As I drive around in my Model 3, I am kinda training myself to look at the cameras only. Which I think I tend to look to first, then mirrors second.

I don't think it would be all that bad to remove them, not sure if more likely to get pulled over without them?

If anyone pulled the trigger, would be super interested to hear how it went?

Any other thoughts? Maybe just not practical?

Thanks!

Well if your State requires them,I would not want to be in a position of getting sued in an accident for not having them. Particularly if there is serious injury. Those ambulance chasers look for anything to favor them in litigation.

While you may be able to do it, so far, my experience has indicated that there definitely are viewing conditions in which either are problematic, and the use of the other is warranted.
Simply backing into my garage is one of them, depending on the position of the sun, as well as if it is rainy, I end up needing both.

In case anyone is interested in removing the mirrors, this is the contact information for the only place I have currently been able to find mirror delete caps

I have some silver 3D printing filament. Does anyone think a plastic solution could be viable ?

That would be a bold move. I have a very tight driveway to reverse into with a gas line that I clearly don’t want to bump into.
i have tried to practice reversing without the mirrors but it’s much much harder. Definitely keeping the side mirrors. There are many use cases where they are necessary.

You have to be kidding me...$500 for those? For a small stainless steel square??? Miguel needs a bit of education in the laws of economics. I'm fairly sure there are a few opensource 3D prints that be be done for about $8 for a nice black one. Miguel isn't going to get many orders... unless Kardaishain or Bieber want them!:ROFLMAO: $30 for the steel if he is lucky.

I’m waiting for the CYBERTRUCKco ones to come in-stock and I have the wolf box mirror to help with the rear view which is the bigger problem IMO. I’m going to mount camera up high on the top crossbar likely.

Here is why I will not be removing my mirrors. I have perfect vision and a true mirror is a lot better quality than what Tesla has implemented with the cameras.

For me to be comfortable taking off the mirrors I would want higher resolution cameras and a dedicated screen space. Right now the virtual mirror is 170° and small screen space.

Here are things I cannot do with the CTs cameras that I can do with real mirrors.
  • See a police officer pacing from even 100 yards back
  • Read front license plates.
  • Quickly glace to get an idea of who is behind me and what their speed is.
  • See if the girl behind me is cute.
See for yourself.
