Well, a strange whistling/rustling sound, proportional to speed, noticeable between 30-50 mph (after 50 mph, wheel noise dominates), has been bugging me for months now. It goes away when going on a gradual left curve, but not straight or right turn. It is more noticeable with slight acceleration, than with deceleration. Unresolved cause.

Ahh, I was going to say that if the covers aren't installed properly, they might make noise... You have to follow the instructions and put the 'ring' part onto the wheel FIRST and THEN put the actual 'cover' on... Otherwise it might not have the right 'fit'... who knew they would be TWO PIECE wheel covers... or, what we used to call 'hubcaps'... hehe...

Today Tesla service figured it out. The stainless trim that runs down from the front window to the base of the windshield, on the left side, is held in place (apparently) by several bolts. The tech tightened the nut closest to the front, by two turns (it was loose). Now the noise is gone. Evidently the wind would cause the steel trim piece to vibrate slightly, and hence the rustling/whistling noise.

This is very interesting. Thanks for posting your fix.

I just got the whistling sound in the same location but only after the service center replaced my wiper motor (for a 2nd time). I have to think it’s related to that.

I don’t think the nut holding my cantrail is loose because when I push or pull the steel piece, it’s solidly mounted.

Anyone else have this happen? If so, what was the fix?

I took a pic of the base of the wiper blade…was there always a gap around where the arm mounts to the wiper motor?

Turns out I was wrong. It still has the problem. Notably, it goes away on a slow left turn, but is present on straight ahead or a right turn. I still suspect some air flow problem related to various gaps on the left side of the front of the vehicle. But I haven't yet tried plugging gaps with some kind of filler.

I also found other pics of the base of the wiper blade. Mine is normal.

Now, I really wish I can figure out the root cause. It’s def related to wiper motor replacement bc it started happening right after that. But all seals around the wiper motor look good.
