In California, Tesla Inventory is now showing increased discounts on 2024 Cybertrucks.

The Foundation Series has also been discounted in Canada for the first time, according to Sawyer Merritt. Discounts are reportedly 5% on both AWD and CB.

This may be a stupid question but if it's cheaper to buy a new 2025 version, why would anyone purchase a discounted 2024 even if it less expensive than before especially since it doesn't qualify for the $7500 tax credit.

The $72,490 price for the 2025 AWD is after the $7,500 tax credit (because the tax credit box on the left side has been checked). The list price is $79,990. If you are eligible for the tax credit, and if you want a basic $79,990 AWD, then yes, the 2025 with tax credit is cheaper than a 2024 with discount. However, the tax credit isn't a factor in two situations:

1. Not everyone is eligible for the tax credit; that's why there is a "See Eligibility Requirements" link by the tax credit box. Basically, if you make more than $150,000 (individual) or $300,000 (married), you don't qualify for the $7,500 tax credit on a 2025. So in that case, a discounted 2024 is cheaper than a new 2025.

2. Not all Cybertrucks are eligible for the tax credit; it is only available on basic AWDs priced below $80,000. Tesla apparently still has a lot of more expensive 2024s in inventory. For CTs priced above $80,000, a discounted 2024 is cheaper than a new 2025, because the tax credit won't apply to either.

I find this puzzling too, unless Tesla discounts the 2024s MORE than $7,500 it makes zero sense to get a 2024 with the lower VIN #s and lack of tax credit.
I personally thought they would sell out most of their 2024s before opening up sales of the 2025s that qualify.

- If you want a CT with a base price above $80,000, then the tax credit doesn't apply. So a discounted 2024 will always be cheaper than a 2025.

- If you want a CT that costs $79,990 (base model AWD), then the 2025 with tax credit is cheaper. So if you qualify for the tax credit, then yes, it makes zero sense to get a discounted 2024. However, some people are too wealthy to qualify for the tax credit, and for those people the discounted 2024 is cheaper.

My local SC shows 24 2024 CT’s in inventory with plenty of demo vehicles to choose from. They showed 17 last week.

Tesla needs these off the books ASAP!
