Hello all,

I took delivery of my Cybertruck AWD yesterday. To my disappointment, the roof trim panels do not have the little access doors to expose the rack mounting bolts. I won't be able to mount my @Mars Adventure Gear rack without purchasing the correct trim pieces, which run $540 a pair.

It all comes as an unpleasant surprise as the order page doesn't say anything about the change and even features pictures of racks mounted forward on the roof for all models. The current owner's manual doesn't mention the discrepancy either. It looks like the change was made last November, but without any mention to new buyers.

If time permits, could someone measure the distance to the door edges from each end and the distance to the side of the trim. I think I might just make a small jig and cut the holes myself.

 Where did you find that price? Asking cause I did buy a top tailgate appliqué and it was only $50 from Tesla. Surprised hear the roof appliqué is $540/pair.

Only mention I've seen about the rack doors is in the EPC.

I can measure later. If you were closer, I might have been willing to swap. ? I don't plan to mount anything on the roof and I've already had a couple appliqué doors warp. Thinking about getting the non-door appliqués.

That's not a bad thought altogether. It had come to mind earlier and I wondered if anyone in the PNW would want the trim without doors.

Thanks for the link to the parts catalog. I was having a hard time finding that earlier.

Tesla did announce this change or at least it was reported on back in November. You’re the first person I’m aware of to be caught up by this. Sorry, friend.

It should be noted, however, that you have to remove the doors to install the Mars system anyways - so, maybe consider if you just want to cut your existing appliqués rather than spending 600 bucks.

I guess for those trying to price out all of the benefits of having purchased a FS/CB you can add that 600 bucks to the list. ?

Yeah, I'll wait for confirmation again on the price on my service request, but I will probably just make myself a little cutting jig and cut the holes myself.

Just a side note on the whole situation: I didn't let it ruin my day yesterday. I placed my pre-order 5 years ago this month. I had to wait until my budget could afford it, but I had a blast picking up the truck yesterday and driving it home.

Yeah super annoying. I knew this change would be a nuisance when it was discovered months ago. Tesla does not seem to think it is an issue.

I am in Los Angeles and would be interested in a swap. My new truck should be here within a month or so.

Keep in mind the longitudinal measurement was made [trying] to stay parallel to the edge. If you take a measurement more inboard, the hole will be [slightly] more forward. Also note, the tape measure has both standard and metric units. ?

In the end the quote to replace the applique from the service center was just under $700. After measuring and marking, I drilled some holes around the perimeter of my marks, popped the material out, and used a file to clean up the edges. All four holes took me about an hour.

Here is a shot of the bracket for my rack peeking through:

What happens to water when it gets in between the gap? Does it have a drain somewhere under the roof appliqué?
