Does anybody else want the front light bar to do the old-fashioned cylon eye thing, from Battlestar Galactica.? Do we have any programmers out there that know how to make that happen? I’m thinking on initial startup, and when in sentry mode. With the accompanying sound effects, of course. ?

Yeah, I’m not so sure I wanna spend $2000 for a novelty item. They do look cool though, just not $2000 cool. I’d be OK with just the white life going back-and-forth. ??

It really seems like a loss, it couldn’t have been that much more money to build a light bar with RGB in it and then Tesla could’ve had a lot of fun with it. Truck is amazing anyway :)

I have thought they could do a Knight Rider style light and include the sound from the show.

I'm wondering how hard it would be to retrofit a light strip yourself to do all of that stuff. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard. Of course I've never taken the DTRL apart and examined it, but just sayin'...

That’s pretty much what the company in the link is doing. Apparently there’s some good money in it. That is, if people are actually willing to pay $2000 a pop for them. That’s a bit too rich for my blood.

To make an RGBW light strip retain factory functions I think would actually be very hard. I've done a lot of addressable LED strip projects, and doing something dumb that doesn't retain factory functions would be easy for sure, it's that integration that would be the hard part. I do agree though $2k is too much for just a cool party trick. Now...$1k on the other hand ? ...that I might be willing to do...come on boxing day sale! ? lol

Actually, I did a few minutes of research, they are using a prebuilt module called BlueGhost, and you can get the CT wiring diagram if you have the Tesla Toolbox 3 subscription. So I'm sure it could be figured out by a DIY'er, but material wise you are looking at probably around $200 (the module $140, LED strips ~$30, Power supply ~$15, Plus Misc wiring harnesses) plus the rental of toolbox 3 $165. Then there is all of your time to figure this out. I can see why they sell this for $2k, but still hoping for a boxing day sale !;)

I agree with that. I’d pay $1k. Been looking at these for a long time but ultimately spent my money on lots of other accessories other than this because the price is just unrealistic from a consumer standpoint. It may not be from a manufactures standpoint, I don’t know,.
