Seemingly you can get them online cheaper than that (for now)
Well that’s good. I paid $1200 for a used one from a forum member. Felt like I was getting a “deal” for that which is kind of crazy.

Found one on ebay. Seems like a good price (compared to what tesla would charge) but im not sure if i even really want it (god forbid i need a new windshield but goodbye lightbar if i do). I would probably afix it similar to how @hemiarch did. I dont really have anywhere to offroad nearby, let alone night off roading.

i just didnt know how high of an angle the light makes and if it would get that “warp drive” effect that @UberNoob mentioned. If it does, then i EXTRA have no reason to buy it other than looks…
I’m enjoying the lightbar more than I thought I would. The ditch light feature illuminates just ahead on the left and right sides of the vehicle. It has a slide adjustment for 0-100% brightness. You can toggle both flood lights or ditch lights, or both. It is pretty awesome in the wilderness with critters around.

Ditto. Way better than the aftermarket one I had.

I paid $1,500 so I’d say you got a good deal. I know of someone paying $2,000.00, which seems wild to me. But I do like the bar especially the ditch lights in the wilderness.

I dont know how deey integrated the light bar software is to the OS but regs on lights are pretty stringent. If there is any liability to be had, even if only software related, im sure tesla would steer clear. Im genuinely a bit surprised they even released an OEM hardware product that cant even legally be “connected” by the installers at the sc… wish they just integrated it behind the windshield like the prototype…:(
It's not very integrated. One command message, one query message, sent all the time.
If the computer gets a proper response to the bus query, it calls the lightbar installed and shows the UI. If no response is received for a period of time, it asks if you un-installed it. If you confirm, it removes the UI. If it gets a response while that dialog is up, it automatically closes it.

Lightbar wouldn't be allowable under FMVSS 108 if mounted behind the windshield either, but it would at least not be mouted to glass which also isn't allowed.
