This truck is supposed to be “tough enough for any planet.” We’re on home turf here.
I think maybe you are equating "tough" with "impervious to minor damage when doing truck things".

M8, if you are worried about keeping your truck pristine when offroading, perhaps you need 2 CTs? One for the streets, and one for the sheets?

Yeah I always was the one that noticed everything about my vehicle. This by far has been the biggest challenge for me to deal with the stainless steel. I am not interested in the wrap either. I wish I had a garage that could handle the CT size but we don’t. The black floor mats drive me crazy also lol. Thanks for all the information and thoughts
People need to let the brutalist styling be exactly that. It's meant to be scuffed, dinged, scraped, and best of all Patina.

I'm dumbfounded that people don't understand the entire reason for going stainless steel in the first place. You aren't going to get a single truck off the line with zero imperfections. That's just not how stainless steel manufacturing works.

This truck has been designed from day 1 to be beat up.

1. That’s not what the marketing was. You can say caveat emptor all you want, but it is what it is. We were told Fords are going to be a joke compared to this.

2. I mean, there’s only been one other stainless steel car and even though I’m old as dirt, at this point, when that car was available for purchase - I was 10. So, the world could’ve learned everything there is to know about stainless steel cars back then and I would’ve learned virtually nothing because no Internet and other than noticing that the car was super cool, no cause for me to be focused on the picadillos of living with stainless steel.

So, the reality is that some people are learning the realities of this material right now because I and others are telling them.

And that’s just the way it’s gonna go down.

You’re “dumbfounded” that people don’t understand the finer details of metallurgy? M8! Come on!!

In your world everybody’s a engineer or a poly math?!?!

Where I live we’re telling people that coffee is hot and trying to get them to not eat tide pods!!!

Where are you transmitting from?!

Which marketing, and what were your expectations? Flawless out of the factory with zero chance it ever changes?

I mean the whole demonstration at launch with the sledgehammer was to show that it wasn’t going to leave a scratch. Remember?

Besides that, I don’t think a “flawless” copy has come out of the factory to date! ????

They compared a painted F-150 door with the stainless steel door. Comparatively, it didn't make a scratch nor dent.

A flawless copy will never come out of the factory. Each and every metal panel will be unique with its own set of flaws. ?

This is true.

The foundation series all-wheel-drive they gave me to drive around the last couple of days was only a month newer than my truck and in addition to having the downgraded new horn, I can report that the build quality was quite a bit better. Far fewer ripples in the stainless steel panels and the finish was really good throughout. Also, no issues with the cantrails, just like mine. [After what we’ve seen posted here, I just can’t accept what they’re offering as a repair.]

I have quite a few rattles with my stereo cranked and this one didn’t have that more like all of my other Teslas which are rock solid on that front

All new production cantrails should be the same parts as recall replacements.

I guess it’ll be obvious if they have that “cigarette burn” stain on the opposite of the new nut. And if that’s what they all look like then that will go on my car over my dead body.

I've seen a post with it and a post without it.
Time for a logo...
