When is Tesla’s come-to-Jesus moment with Cybertruck do you think? Have they stopped production already I wonder?

I agree with your reasoning, but only up to a point. I just think that the truck is, for lack of a better word, “tarnished.” I don’t know how you can turn it around.

On the one hand, you have the political backlash, but people keep forgetting that a lot of people really, really disliked the truck before politics entered into it. Then, you have the politics on top of that. Then you have the “new” fanboys (now including the proud boys) who are strident, rude and reactionary and can’t handle people having anything even remotely negative to say about their beloved toy no matter how accurate or reasonable the criticism may be.

You basically have ‘Porsche owners’ without the Porsche cachet underpinning it. So, I don’t see this ever getting better, but maybe I’m wrong.

I’ve been clear about this though I don’t really care if Tesla ever sells another CT. If it’s a commercial flop that doesn’t affect me (I mean maybe as a stockholder but …shrug).
Generally agree; there is an uptick to a point. A lot of people [general public] that are intrigued by the truck and others waiting to buy but holding off on price. We’re just hearing negativity from the louder group. Will it hit 3/Y #s? Hell no! Sustainable S/X #s? Maybe. IMO, wouldn’t count out the CT until we see ~$60k variant #s.

I’m thankful that they had the nerve to make it, I’m thankful that I was able to get one and I just don’t care if anybody else does. I’m not emotionally invested in whether it’s a success and I don’t feel a need to be vindicated by the market. It doesn’t do everything I wanted to do and I’m OK with that. It’s a thing of beauty, in my opinion.

At the end of the day it’s beautiful, but it’s also a mess! These things often go together.
? IMO, Tesla is the only company with the balls to make something so outlandish. CT is a rare event and I’m glad to be a part of it; the good and the bad.

I love my CyberTruck, as I have from the moment of my late-reservation was sent, and will continue to love it..

….even with all of its flaws

Where’s the “sky is falling” MSM handwringing over Rivian? “California fires” is quite the “dog ate my homework" excuse.

IMHO, there is a limited market for $80k+ vehicles. For the average American, the economy sucks and is getting worse.

Rivian 2025Q1 total deliveries: 8,640
Rivian 2025Q1 production: 14,611

Rivian 2024Q1 total deliveries: 13,588
Percentage change: -36.4%, year over year Q1.

(No politics, you can do it, no politics)

If Rivians were polarizing and their CEO received a government appointment and pissed a lot of people off, there might be more of that handwringing.

The way I see it, the more people that know of your existence, the more haters you will have. Everyone knows Elon at this point. I couldn’t tell you who Rivian’s CEO is without googling it.
