After 18,000+ miles, I’d buy something else and wait until you’re finished with that vehicle and then reconsider the newest CT at that time. The current CT has many growing pains to work through before it’s great. In my honest opinion.
A 3rd/5th generation CT should be the badass pickup truck we wanted.
This is why I’m leasing my CB.

With all said and done, do try to get balanced, reliable sources. There's too much biased Cybertruck hate out there.

This is such a thought provoking and helpful forum, and everything said so far, pretty much, reinforces why I have wanted to buy a Cybertruck from the moment I witnessed Elon and Franz unveiling this most unique of all vehicles. My fears have been tempered and my enthusiasm renewed.

This stainless-steel beast is built like it’s ready to survive the apocalypse or a zombie outbreak, whichever comes first. Forget dings and scratches—this thing laughs in the face of shopping carts.

Performance-wise, it’s absurd. It can go 0 to 60 faster than most sports cars, which is hilarious when you realize you’re essentially drag racing in a stainless-steel brick. All while making zero noise and burning zero gas. It’s like if Mad Max went vegan and got a tech upgrade.

Plus, the Cybertruck is packed with more tech than your average spaceship. It’s got self-driving capabilities, a huge center display, air suspension that adjusts on the fly, and a bed that’s more secure than some bank vaults. You can even plug in power tools or charge your electric dirt bike right from it. Basically, it’s a Swiss Army knife on wheels—with a side of “what the fuck is that?” from every person you pass.

It’s ridiculous, over-the-top, and not for everyone—but that’s exactly why I bought one, because fuck them.

i got my CT end of January. I just got done doing 10k miles in 2 month trip across 10 western states.
Even with a week in calmifornia, over a week in portland and a week in Denver, I got more thumbs up than middle finger salutes. But I didn't buy it to have people look at me so I'm not looking at people while driving.
My CT only insurance is over $1k per month from tesla at maxxed coverage. I just bought a new equivalent plan from progressive for less than 1/2 that price. TBF, progressive plan is 24k miles per year, the tesla one is ">24k" per year.
If I knew insurance would be so expensive I would have not opted for the foundation beast, but the $80k awd instead.

Of course.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my AWD CT.
But if I had to do over again, I’d wait until it’s further developed.
(Sorta like I did with my MS. I wanted one since 2013, but I didn’t make the purchase until 2017.)

If more people test drove a Cybertruck more would own it.

Hands-down it is the best driving vehicle I have ever owned and all I have owned are high performance vehicles and work trucks. I am choosing to drive my Cybertruck daily over a modified BMW M5C and a modified BMW M8 Convertible.

This is the best daily driver in terms of steering, drivability, and utility.

With all of that said FSD pushes everything over the top for the Cybertruck. I let the Cybertruck drive me everywhere I go. Having to manually drive places seems so boring to me now. I would much rather let the truck drive me.

I am seeing many Youtube posts making the case for the Cybertruck being a total failure and even surpassing the Edsel as the worst new car failure ever.
I have a Foundation CT on order, awaiting recall repairs for the cantrail issue so I haven't received my CT yet.
I am growing concerned that maybe this purchase is a mistake. The FUD is working.
Also, I am thinking if I hold out a little longer, until the 1st quater earnings call, maybe there will be some serious additional incentives on the CT if Tesla really does need to start moving these trucks due to super low sales and all the issues with panels falling off, etc.
I would sure appreciate the community's feedback on this.
Plenty of responses already, but here is another…

I have had my truck for 1 year. I like it more now than when I got it. I have seen all the popular negative YouTube videos out there, and pretty much all of them try to pass off opinions as facts. There are so many things to love about the truck, but like anything, it’s not perfect.

If Tesla discontinued the truck, I would probably buy a second one for later. I bought the truck at $100k. At 80k, I think it’s a steal. It’s not a steal on specs alone, but in the sheer enjoyment and drivability of it. The only truck I have driven that was even remotely close is a turbo diesel, which had enough torque to feel similar. But that had the turning radius of a pontoon boat!

I highly doubt you would be disappointed, unless for some reason, your expectations of what it is are way off.

We must realize that there is a coordinated effort to punish Elon at every opportunity. Media is creating a narrative, with the intent on hurting Tesla. I don't recall a single positive story from a "mainstream" source. Thank goodness for this forum and independent content creators on YouTube. To me, it's obvious what they are doing when I see the titles alone. I've seen firsthand how articles are created these days using paid third parties. It's a dirty business and as I tell people, first, you must consider the source.

It's a flop. Honestly, Tesla can go bankrupt and I don't care. I still love my CT. I got my car. I'm happy.
Its a flop compared to the Model 3, its a flop compared to an ICE F-150, it is not a flop compared to Rivian's trucks and Ford's F-150 Lightning.

Tesla can turn it around if they opt for a loss on the sale. (I wouldn't suggest this, but it is possible.)
If Tesla took a drastic step and price matched the 2019 prices the whole CT is a flop would be gone overnight.

There are 3 reasons they are not.
1. It is 2025, inflation has increased a 40k price to 55k. Production ramp has costs.
2. The technology in the truck is different, there is a lot more than what they advertised at the start.
3. Macro environment is very hard right now. Not many are willing or able to pay for an 80K truck. The whole market is down.

Range seems to be a huge thing, but I really feel this is off, most truck users are not towing that much and I bet Tesla sees this.

Maybe a long range will come out. We will have to see.

Couldn’t be happier with mine and I have owned all the specialty trucks: AT4, Raptor, TRX. I bought the last day of Nov and got a 40,000 VIN. 6k miles now and absolutely zero issues. Build quality is the best of any Tesla I have owned. It’s my favorite truck I have owned so far.

Wait as long as you can. Price has no where to go but down.

Honestly, I do not see a large market for an expensive EV - especially with limited range. Model Y and 3 are great as they are the cheapest decent transportation out there. Tesla is selling only a handful of X and S each month.

I wouldn't touch an EV over $50k. I am waiting for a sub 50K CT - or some Suburban sized SUV.

I am sure Tesla thought battery tech would improve more than it did by the time the CT launched. Give it a few more years and who knows.

My 2022 Hemi Ram is parked gathering dust. I prefer the Cybertruck for for daily driving fun and work-truck stuff that it excels at better.
