The truck is fantastic!
I would not be surprised if a lot of this negative is being lead by those that would benefit from low sales. Other manufacturers.
YouTubers want to be seen. Most have no clue as to what they “think they know”.

Also:

“All truth passes through three stages" attributed to Arthur Schopenhauer, describes the journey of a truth from being ridiculed, to being violently opposed, and finally, to being accepted as self-evident.

Here's a breakdown of the three stages:

  • First, it is ridiculed:
When a new idea or truth is first proposed, it's often met with disbelief and mockery, as it challenges existing beliefs and paradigms.
    • Second, it is violently opposed:
As the idea gains traction, it faces strong resistance from those who cling to the old ways of thinking, leading to active opposition and attempts to suppress it.
    • Third, it is accepted as self-evident:
Eventually, the truth becomes widely accepted and understood, becoming so commonplace that it's seen as obvious and requiring no further justification.

Being a Cybertruck owner is like the vehicle version of the movie Shallow Hal.

I almost didn’t buy due to clickbait.

Then I actually drove one. It was so much better than anything else I looked at and it wasn’t even close.

The Cybertruck gets clicks / views online. Negative press gets more clicks than positive press. Clicks are how the media, including influencers online make money.

I’ve had zero issues with my truck other than people being nasty here and there. The truck itself is amazing.

…but what you are saying is a valid concern. Even even if it’s the right vehicle for you, you are going to have to know that you will have a bunch of people in your life that are seeing the same videos… and then you’re going to find yourself having to be on the receiving end if “I heard XYZ” exaggerated claim from a clickbait article, post or video.
I'll second that and say that if you are someone that lives your life concerned about the opinions of others and how you might be perceived or judged by others, this might not be for you. Better to buy something vanilla and blend in with the rest of the NPCs so that you don't get ridiculed for having your own sense of direction or purpose that conflicts with the manufactured Zeitgeist.

The CT was one of the best purchases I've ever made and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I didn't buy it as an investment or to have a fun toy that I could turn around and sell to recoup a sizable portion of the cost. I opted to by a technological marvel on wheels that fits my lifestyle needs and provides both a blend of practical and impractical benefits.

I'm happily scheduling my first recall appointment with the dealership to fix the glue trim and I'll be using FSD to travel to and from that appointment with a smile on my face behind the wheel of a fucking steel beauty ✌

I am growing concerned that maybe this purchase is a mistake. The FUD is working.
Also, I am thinking if I hold out a little longer, until the 1st quater earnings call, maybe there will be some serious additional incentives on the CT if Tesla really does need to start moving these trucks due to super low sales and all the issues with panels falling off, etc.
I would sure appreciate the community's feedback on this.
If you haven't already, please watch Jason Commisa's Cybertruck video. I watched it multiple times during my wait for delivery. It is powerful, sometimes funny, sometimes maddening but overall enlightening and freeing.

As someone that was at Apple pre-Steve and post-Steve I remember many of the same hallowed "analysts" and "experts" -- now "influencers" that proclaimed the Company was dead. How funny to see them change their tune.

The reality is that influencers hold no special expertise beyond driving watch time and likes. As such, opinions are often polarizing for a reason.

It's a great truck. It's not for everyone (and that's the point.) Try one and buy it based on your own impressions.

Don’t read too much into the propaganda machine. The CT is the coolest truck I’ve ever owned.
You just need to drive it I tell everyone.

One year ownership, no problems, wiper motor recall done but wasn’t needed, same with the pending contrail recall, absolutely my favorite vehicle ever owned (and that says something as I’ve owned everything from Subarus, Hondas, Jeeps and Fords to Porsche, BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes)

I’ve had my Cybertruck for almost a year now and don’t regret it at all. It’s probably the best vehicle I’ve owned and I have owned almost every make and model out there. The recalls are expected for a vehicle that has so many first - 48v, (full) steer-by-wire, and stainless steel exoskeleton to name a few. However, Tesla is addressing them. No manufacturer can bring out a perfect car. Every vehicle I have owned might not have a recall but did have something go wrong with it. The mainstream media has always been against Tesla, so seeing the Forbes video was not surprising. A good example is when a Tesla catches on fire it’s all over the news, but when an ICE vehicle catches on fire good luck finding it anywhere. Making it seem like EV or in this case Tesla catches on fire all of the time. When the truth that ICE vehicles catch on fire almost 20 times more every year. Another thing, I strongly think is the established manufacturers have something to do with putting Tesla in a bad light. A company that is barely 15 years old is kicking their butts. In the end, go with what is comfortable with you. Although, if you pick the Cybertruck you will not regret it.

In 1997 Michael Dell told reporters regarding Apple that he would “shut it down and return the money to the shareholders.”

There's been almost no innovation post Steve which is what most influencers were worried about.

A lot of attempts and failed projects like the Vision Pro, Apple Car, and Apple Home (Potentially Apple TV as well).

The watch has been popular, but the company still lives and dies by phone sales and subscriptions.

I get your point, but maybe not the best example.

I agree the FUD is pretty overwhelming. I bought one about 6 weeks ago and I'll never go back :) Most interesting, fun, and impressive vehicle I've owned. I've had several cars and trucks over the years, this one is the best. You may encounter some issues, but for me, the experience with this truck far outweighs the challenges.

So I am hoping Elon continues as the driving force of Tesla

I have had my CT since August with no issues. I have driven many trucks and other vehicles (range Rover) and by far it has been the most fun to drive. It handles incredibly, it carries more than my 2500 RAM in the bed and the self driving thing is amazing. Cant count how many times it has driven me home.

Relax, and listen to the experts (Jason Camissa of Hagerty, Sandy Munro, myself as a long time 4x4 driver. Here is what I do every time I go for a drive.........
For us CT owners up here in upstate New York, where there are few CTs driving around, I have to schedule at least an extra half an hour for any local trips around here to answer all of the questions I get about "what the heaven are you driving". So I decided to list them on a card that I give out if I'm in a hurry, here it is:
Cybertruck 30 minute dissertation short form;
My 7th and last truck (previous daily drivers, all 4x4 Toyotas starting with the 1979 SR5, last Tundra, a 2014 had 220,000 miles on it), love this beast, is the future, all electric, lightning quick (0-60 2.6 sec), steer by wire progressive steering (full left to right lock 340°), 4 wheel steering (really tight turns), air suspension (17" high setting clearance), regenerative breaking (rarely use breaks), 48 volt low voltage (really small wiring harnesses), Etherloop communication, heavy duty stainless steel body, almost NO maintenance (Tires, wiper blades & fluid is about it), over the air updates, and most importantly gas pickup $60 to drive 250 miles, Cybertruck $15-$19 electricity (400 wH/mile x 250 miles at $.15-$.19/kWh) to drive 250 miles, full slow charge at home 5 hours, full fast charge at supercharger 45 minutes, and Tesla is 10-15 years ahead of everyone else.

Plus I have 8k miles on my beast with absolutely NO problems....... so far........

Decide only after test driving one. I am in love with mine, the way it drives, the space, the utility, even the look. Ask around and see if someone will let you drive theirs, wherever you live. I would say SURE!
