Some states putting lost road tax (built into gas taxes) back into EV registration to make up the difference. We don't buy gas but use the same roads as ICE vehicles, is their reasoning.

Yowza. Ohio is about <100 bucks or so. Interestingly, there is a 100 dollar surcharge for electric, but CT (and all electric trucks) are exempt due to what was certainly an oversight when the law was written that specifically names "electric cars."

EDIT: Vehicle registration fees are a deduction when you itemize taxes. I was going to put down my CT, but you also need to include the make and model. I was certain some IRS guy was going to audit me simply for putting CT on my return, so I was paranoid and ate the $100-ish I would've gotten back.
