Oregon registered CT for 4 years, so it will take a while to figure out the renewal cost, but based on the DMV calculator right now it's $632 ($158 per year) - they have a single rate for EVs regardless of weight/type.

Mine was around $1,415 in CA. It's because CA classifies all pickup trucks as commercial vehicles (very unfairly). It's a cash grab. Not sure if it's the same law in MI?
Partially the weight charge and partially the current value charge. Given the latter, it should drop rapidly as resale values have dropped so dramatically.

I have not yet paid my first Virginia “personal property tax” but at 3.70/$100 assessed value, it will be north of $4,000 plus the highway use fee of $128.14 annually.

If it's like Nebraska, it's based on the MSRP and age of the vehicle. So a Cybertruck that's more expensive than a Model 3 will be a lot higher. Here in Nebraska, the year 1 registration of a brand new Cybertruck with MSRP of $99,990 would have a $1,860 Motor Vehicle Tax and the year 2 renewal would be $1,674.

Then there are the $30 Motor Vehicle Fee, the $150 Special Fuel Fee.

our property taxes are high in Texas.
Well, of course property taxes are high in TX since land is scarce and at a premium, so to get land you have to compete with others, so the laws of supply and demand kick into effect, just like they do in Manhatten...oh wait... ??

FL registration is by weight so might be cheaper and I don’t think it will be anywhere close to that.

It's just a percentage of the base price when purchased.
Absurd, but that's how it's calculated.

That may be true, but in California, the percantage is much higher for vehicles classified as "COMMERCIAL." People have gone through the laborious process of getting their CTs reclassified as "Recreational Vehicles" (RVs) by filling out forms and showing to the CADMV that the tonneau covered bed is used for sleeping. It's a pain-in-the-ass process to save several hundreds of dollars per year in registration renewals.

This is all caused by a stupid law that was passed to classify all pickups trucks (with beds, obviously) as commercial vehicles, even though 90%+ of all pickup trucks are just used for personal reasons and not used for anything commercial. It's a government, BS, cash grab...nothing more...the government does not serve the people in CA, they serve themselves...

Yeah, I know.

Neither does Florida or Alabama. (perhaps other states)

I was just attempting to make a joke. But you wouldn't know anything about humor, would you, Joking Panda?

(another joke)
