I cracked a rear fairing (driver's side, rear end of rocker panel). I clipped a curb in a tight spot in a parking lot going <1 MPH - not exactly glamorous off-roading, but not remotely violent either. Still, 100% my fault. Since I need to fix it I would prefer to seize the opportunity to replace as much of the cheap delicate plastic trim as possible with something, er, less delicate. I have seen many variants of running boards (which I don't want), but no simple after-market replacements for the rocker panels. Is anyone making metal rocker panels? (Photos of the broken piece attached.)

Fair point. If that is the case, then, a sensible solution might be to simply not replace the fairing at all and have some form of after-market 'filler' piece take its place. Constantly replacing a cheap plastic fairing that we all know is likely to crack off again strikes me as a poor focus of resources. Does such a piece exist?

Alternatively perhaps replacement metal rocker panels could be made that do not impose a structural load on the rest of the truck when hit (if that is, in fact, a concern).

We definitely need an aftermarket replacement piece. Something shorter or made of flexible rubber. I took out the diver’s side back when I used to use entry mode. Nope that’s asking for trouble lowering onto curbs and grass. Never use that btw. Took out the passenger’s side on the highway running over roadkill “deer” as highway has it in low mode, mistake. And FSD doesn’t react to road kill or potholes. This piece is like the Achilles heel. Kinda cancels out the whole point of a truck not having to worry about stuff like this.

I just saw the CybertruckCo ones here (https://cybertruckco.com/product/cybertruck-side-step-rock-sliders-carbon-steel/). They look super nice and the quality looks great. There is a reference in another recent post to the company coming out with a less expensive version (around $1K). I'm not sure whether these are them or not, but that extra $500 for these makes it a bit pricey. I have no doubt that the quality warrants that price -- they look like serious kit and CybertruckCo clearly does nice work -- but I don't need anything that hard core. I just want something that's a step up from the featherweight plastic. Or maybe CybertruckCo would be willing to organize a discount for a bulk buy from a bunch of us!

Hope so. $1,500 is a lot to pay for something that should be $100 tops. I just want the fairings to be replaced with something flush.

Thanks for tagging us!

We have ran into the same issue on our truck (matter of fact, both fairings are gone on our engineering truck from offroading). We're patiently waiting for Tesla to release their rock slider and see if we can design something that fits.

Meanwhile, I have to say the rock slider offering from @CYBERTRUCKco does look solid and seems like a good alternative!

Not interested in designing an inexpensive rocker panel cap for the factory offering? That would at least cover the on-road people breaking them as well as most off-roaders.

@Unpluggedperformance has ultra strong Rocker Panels / Rock Sliders.
The Rocker Panel is made from high-strength carbon steel. The Rock Slider (Step) feature will also help protect the side of your CT, and it's helpful to enter and exit the cab as a step.

Let me know if you need more info. I would be happy to assist.

I’ve been asking for that here. Sponsors, can we get a part for this yet?

@Unpluggedperformance
@T Sportline
@AO-Pete
@CYBERTRUCKco (they already said demand is too low, but maybe eventually they’ll come to the reality that we need this)
@Mars Adventure Gear (probably our best bet, they actually listen to what we want)

For basic rock guards, our side covers will work. We market these as 'steps' because they are not designed a true slider-worthy rails. But for the cost, you can't beat the protection. I have a few sets that are scratch/scuffed up from FedEx claims, happy to cut a deal for someone who needs a set for basic rocker protection.

Those still retain the rear wheel fairing. I think most of us are looking for a little end cap to cover this area after removing the fairing:

ah yes, we'd need to extend for that. Another problem, this box is at the length limit for UPS/FedEx, so anything else will need to be bolt-together.

Well if y’all ever offer just an end cap to work with the factory rocker panel you will have a sure sale here.
