• Kills the $7,500 tax credit for EV manufacturers that have sold more than 200k EVs (Tesla) at the end of 2025
• Strips many solar and battery credits Tesla uses
• Kills Commercial Clean Credit
• Imposes $250 a year federal tax per EV to make up for loss of fuel tax
  • This would be in addition to your state tax (South Carolina has $250 per year)

I heard about that $250/yr tax on EVs but I wonder where they get that that is how much people pay for fuel tax. It sounds like big oil talking to me.

Sounds like the intention is to make EVs more expensive than ICE cars, but I'm pessimistic. That would be each vehicle averaging almost 1400 gallons per year.

Average MPG is 26.4, and average mileage per year is 14,263. So then for EVs that's an equivalent of 37,000 miles per year, over 2.5 times of average ICE.

I'm naively surprised about the anti-EV mindset in congress, as so many capital investments (factories, jobs, etc.) are in traditional "red" states.

Eva are quite a bit heavier and do more damage to the roads, but this still seems quite high.

Another choice, for federal, would be to just have to submit mileage every year. Seems strange that if I owned 10 EVs, I’d still $2500, when I can only drive one car at a time.

That’ll cost me $1250 a year by the time I get my Scout and Aptera.

$750 immediately if this passes. Also, I’ve been paying into Social Security every day since I was 16 years old. That’s MY money.

I’m already getting raked over the coals on registration and road tax at the state level. Adding $750 federally is a kick to the balls. Still cheaper than 3x gasoline and 3x oil changes etc. but…. Wtf. ?

In the future, I’ll just build an EV myself and register it as an ICE vehicle. Ha
I’ve always wanted to build a kit car. Here’s another reason to build a Lamborghini kit car with the muscle of Tesla. Haha

if passed this will definitely make China So Great and bankrupt the legacy US autos in few years.
China's EV adoption is rapidly increasing-moreover, Chinese govt is heavily subsidizing for EV push.
US MSM fueling too many FUDs and delaying EVs.
Elimination of EV tax credit will provide false hope to legacy autos for self destruction.
