So, as everyone knows, the standard Goodyear tires that come with the FS really are not going to last much past 25K miles. I have read many posts regarding foam in the tires. When it comes time to replace my tires, do I have to go through Tesla, or can I go through my highly trusted local mechanic (who can't do much on the FS anyway

Any tire store can help you. If they look clueless. Find a different one. From Walmart to Discount Tire, most shops are capable and can find tires for the truck.

I have 28,000 miles on my all-terrain tires, and I’m about halfway through the wear, I drive 175 miles round-trip to work mostly highway. I am curious what tires other folks are picking, and do you see a significant range increase if you go to the street tires as opposed to the all terrain?

I bought Michelin. No different in loud tire noise or range. I think it depends on your road surface in your area. Mine are smooth. I just finished a 3000 mile trip thru Texas. Horrible surfaces along the way.

I would do my local favorite shop. On another note I took my CT Foundation in to the Service Center for 6K tire rotation requirement for the warranty. $70 ! Seriously I have never had to pay for tire rotation before on any of my past new vehicles under warranty. Fortunately I was able to pay using the Tesla credit money.

Unless you love your local Tesla Service center I would stay away, I've never had a good experience with Tesla Service, especially with tire changes, they even damaged a rim and couldn't figure out their own alignment hardware. Tire shops do this all day long, would recommend a tire shop where that is all they do. You will get better pricing as well and a better warranty, the extra warranty is worth it.

I bought the Goodyear DuraTrac RTs though the Tesla app and had the SC install them. Very happy with the service, ride, and especially the aesthetics.
