HOV Decals - Where to Put Them?

In California, just ordered them tonight. I’m thinking about putting on the plastic/bumpers instead of stainless/body. What are you all planning to do?

I can relate, I bought a used White 2018 Model 3 that began it's life in California. It still has the ugly sticker residue from a HOV sticker on the plastic bumper and I don't know how to get it off!

The stickers are just plain stickers... So goo gone usually does it. It's just after being baked a few years, it's pretty crystalized, and the paint under it is less UV faded and thicker than that around it by microns.

My thoughts exactly! My HOV stickers arrived and I’m having second thoughts about putting them on. I live in the Central Valley of California and in my area and normal day to day travel I don’t have very many carpool lane options. When we do travel along freeways with the option, I’ll have my family with me and would be able to use the carpool lane anyway. I’m dreading sticking them on the bumper and them being there for all eternity.

Maybe we could attach the sticker to a magnet sheet. I have been pondering the same , but I have not yet gotten my vin, so cannot test it out.

In MD we get an HOV sticker and this company makes a mount that uses the rear license plate screws to attach to.
have it on both our current teslas, and will likely do for the CT as well.

Used these on my 3 and Y. When time was up, they slid off easy and didn’t leave a mess.

I had a 2018 Model 3, a 2023 Model 3P and now a 2024 CT all with California carpool lane permits. I keep the California stickers and the permit in my vehicle with the registration. I've never been pulled over. Should I get pulled over, I will apply the stickers if the officer requires it. I did some experiments with various other stickers adhered to magnetic sheets and then applied to the CT and it works but not perfectly. For people that don't live in CA, there are 2 large stickers and 2 small stickers - in a super bright, ugly color. They have a unique number on them but I figure the officer will see I have the permit when they run my license plates.

I can confirm that they do not show up when you run the license plate. Must show DMV paperwork to verify.
