Leaking in the bed …..

Hi all has anybody went in for service for a leaking bed the cover does an ok job but the back left and right corners get pretty wet

Has anyone else experienced this?

Can Tesla address this?

The vault is semi-dry at best.
You have to put stuff in plastic totes in the back if you want it to stay dry, which is crazy.

If you have a GOOD service center they will replace the top gasket and it will make the back watertight, you may have to request the service 3-4 times before they do it and they will hit you with the "it is not supposed to be waterproof" so be prepared for that.

They call it a "vault" typically a "vault" is not something that is associated with water ingress

Vault means secure..as in lockable. It’s even in the CT page on Teslas’s website under “lockable storage”

There's threads on this site showing how to improve the water issue. I went to a hardware store and fixed pretty cheaply. I placed weather stripping between the glass and the trim pieces. Has held up for half a year so far and no more waterfall.

I'll eventually replace with a darker color weather stripping, currently its a light brown color because that was what was in stock when I tried. it.

Agree. YouTube is your friend. And yes you can minimize it. I did and in Florida rain it stays dry.

Yup, there’s a video of someone replacing the rubber weather strip on the rear tonneau appliqué. It looks like a simple process. It’s on YouTube but also linked to on these forums.

Take it to a service center. They'll fix it under warranty. That's what I did. Fixed the problem.

Adding the extra slat fixed 100% of my water issues at the front of the vault. The back, near the tailgate clearly has a drain slot opening in the bed, so as others have said, it's mean't to get wet.

My Bed leaked at the front due to the missing first tonneau cover slat missing.

Missing the first slat - cause 'Horrific' leaking - as any water on the roof glass goes right into the start of the bed behind the passenger seat - Exactly where you would store your 'EDC' gear in the truck.

Also a manual or machine car wash - pushes the water off the roof to the back - again leaking into the start of the bed.

I had mine fixed telling service "I want all the parts of the CT I purchased - it is missing a tonneau slat' in lieu of 'my bed leaks' - because as you see in the comments here - it becomes subject to interpretation.

To those who say 'the bed is not water proof /leaks'...well tires don't hold air forever, so I guess if you have a flat every 2 days - you'd be cool with that??????? - It is a matter of degrees.

As you can see here from my CT - when the first [forward] slat is missing - it acts like a gutter with the holes it channels most of the roof water into bed vault!.

Where the tonneau cover meets the tailgate - there is a lot of open space, however that water runs out the gap below the tailgate. I am not sure about a clean way to seal it.
