Tire life: how many miles to expect from factory tires?

To all the tire rotators out there, I owe you an appology. I thought my tires were wearing evenly. But, you guys got me to wondering what the ground truth was. So, I bought one of these...

I mean, I've used my calipers which have a hole depth gauge... But, this felt more accurate for some reason. Plus, it's easier to fit in the wheel well without having to raise the suspension. I mean, it's hot outside...

Here are my findings. Yes, I made a spreadsheet. It's what I do in my spare time...

Does the screen nag about rotation at the appropriate mileage? Or better yet - does the machine take into account G-forces invoked when computing rotation recommendation? I'm still short of the 6K ... and wondering where I put that tread depth gauge ...

I think I should have added a Tire PSI column... and I think I'll take the advice to do a front to back (per the manual) tire rotation and then lower the PSI by maybe 2 pounds. That'd put it at 49 or 50 psi, I believe.

Looks like the service manual does recommend a rear-ward cross rotation pattern non-directional all tires same size.

Also has a recommendation for Non-direction, Front and Rear different sizes. Is anyone doing that? Side-to-side swap is the pattern.

Unsurprisingly, the pattern for Direction Tires is front to rear, read to front.

I suspect tire wear is impacted by rear wheel steering and how much we 'rely' on the CT's drive-by-wire lightness when the truck is stopped - I find myself demonstrating the 4-wheel steering to friends and neighbors, but also note that my driveway shows a lot of scrubbed-off tire markings -that represents used mileage. The fact that we CAN turn the wheels so easily when stopped means that at least some of us do it without thinking much - a tire that is rotating uses much less treat when turning than a tire that is stopped and scrubbing when turning.

If you drive on Chill Mode most of the time with fairly maintained roads, you should get between 20k and 25k miles with factory tires.
(From my experience.)

I just changed mine at 42500 miles (thanks again John Mc) They were about 3-4 millimeters

Looking at the tire when I bought it, I anticipated 40 to 50,000 miles and I’m confident that I will get that and that’s mostly paved roads. I have a Hummer H2 with BFGoodrich Att tires on it and I get 50,000 out of those tires and I only change them because I’m afraid of dry rot. I think as long as you maintain the tires you’ll get pretty close to what you would get on a passenger vehicle, driven the same way I like the tires.

Yup, replying to my own post to bring to you a 40,084 mile update!
I can't find my original form but, here's the measurements 18,347 after my first measurements and there has only been a single tire rotation done.

Where --- Left---middle---right
Front LeftL-------6.75---6.50---6.50
Front Right------5.00---6.25---6.50
Rear Left--------7.00---6.25---6.50
Rear Right-------6.75---5.50---6.25

Takeaway: At my current shed rate, I have 10,000 miles left and maybe, if I push it, 20,000.

That means I'll end up replacing the tires between 50,000 and 60,000 miles..

That's fine.

I'm moving in 9 days and will be cutting my daily commute down from 88 miles a day to maybe 40.
