Bed grab handles

All the issues with a trailer hitch step is why I think this, along with a handle might work well. It's a little pricey for just the step functionality, but I think it would work well.

I personally think the UP stuff is highway robbery and I’m not crazy about having to drive around with a tank bumper in the city.
As a trauma surgeon I don’t particularly subscribe to bigger and harder bumpers are better. Quite the opposite. Less crumple means more injury.

I agree 1000%. It feels like we are charged a premium for stuff just because it's a Tesla and, more specifically, a CT. Imo, its not just UP either.
As a Family physician, I can totally understand the bumper perspective given the injuries you see far too often. I really hadn't even considered that prospect as, for me, the only reason I would even consider it would be the step.
If someone came out with a step like that that could be non destructively attached, it would fit the bill of what we are looking for.

With the bed outlets, something like farmers with mobility problems use would be perfect to mod into the Cybertruck on a smaller scale. Like a swingout platform. I am a bit surprised that mobility access companies have been ignoring the Cybertruck as of now. Seems like the onboard power would be perfect for all kinds of mobility assist products.

Intriguing ... does it require the HD bumper? That puts a 10x in front of pricey.

Don’t see how it wouldn’t. There are no mounting points on the oem bumper for it.

Might want to check this out before spending money:

1. Open the tailgate, open the tonneau. Note that just to the rear of the back tire is a wide spot on the back (stock) bumper.
2. Grab over the sail, hook your fingers into the tonneau channel,
3. step onto the rear bumper just to the rear of the back tire, then
4. with your other foot step either onto the low outside edge of the tailgate or directly onto the main tailgate surface.

Seemed to work quite well without resorting to the Carolina Squat, didn't need an addition add-on handhold. Didn't seem to push the outer limits of flexibility or strength. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Getting down via the reverse was a little harder as you are going for the bumper step blind. But if you keep your foot at tailgate height, move to the rear wheel flair by feel and then down, it seems do-able.

Funny story along those lines. A few years ago, the wife was kind of nodding off unexpectedly. Including while driving... So while stopped at a light, she very gently bumps the Cherokee II in front of her in her 4k lb Caddy SLS. Apologies, exchange info, Jeeper says no apparent damage probably no claim. Next morning Jeeper calls: couldn't open back door, unibody bent, vehicle totaled. Something I always think of when I see those steps that mount in the receiver; basically providing a direct shot to the frame bypassing all the crumple/absorb tech engineered into the vehicle.

I did not even realize that. That kills it definitively for me as there is no way I would change the whole bumber just for a step.

So. The screws I got for the l-track are too long but the pegs are about perfect. Back to Amazon.
I need to find an m8 l-track stud that’s only 0.5 inch long instead of 1 inch.
