Hi! I’m about to be a new CT owner. We’re trading in our 2025 MY for a CT for the extra room for stuff and capabilities. We’re matched with a demo vehicle with 160 miles that is 424 miles away. Discounted $1700. We could also buy a brand new one on inventory that is 103 miles away.

Which would you go for? Are the logistics of a longer trip and hotels worth the savings for the demo? Thanks for any insight!

I think it makes zero difference.
Take the $1700 and buy yourself a cyberquad for kids or put it towards your first set of tires.
or maybe just stop somewhere on your 103 mile trip and spend the night with your wife in a super snazzy hotel after a 4 star dinner.
make the delivery experience an even more awesome memory.

For that amount of discount, I would just get the new one. Fresh off the line and hasn't been beat up by lead footed test drives.
Thank you! The demo VIN is in the 70xxx as best I can tell, so it’s a bit older too.
For $1700 im going new all the way. At least your farts will be the first ones on those seats.. That's worth $1700 alone. You know every mile of that 160 miles has been pedal to the floor.....

Oh gosh. That’s probably all the motivation I need 🤢

Agree with others: for only $1,700 discount, I'd buy the brand new one.

IMO, a 70xxx VIN isn't bad at all (that's relatively new as I think the latest VINs I've seen are in the 80xxx range) but it's still a small discount on a demo vehicle.

Thanks! I just got off the phone and switched to a new CT that’s closer. It’s an 81xxx VIN, so brand spanking new!

I leased an inventory unit, pick up is on Saturday....3344 miles, $4,500 off, plus loyalty $1,000 off...AWD with Core Wheels...pretty stoked!
So I’m with you, I know what it takes to earn $4500 so I’d 100% let someone else fart in my new car once or twice instead.

I like to pay $100k for the privilege of pulling the shipping plastic off the touchscreen. The rest is just bonus
You mean the rest of what you pay above 100k? Or the rest of the process of identifying manufacturer defects and making service appointments to fix them?

The 2025 has a change to the front end that made the crash test score a little better compared to 2024. So as long as they are both 2025, go with the used and spend the savings on the taxes or trip. Looks like after April 2025:

$1700 buys you a couple of TSLA ...hold them for a while 🐱
