Got my cant rails replaced by Tesla SC in Dublin, CA. As I was checking in, I informed the Advisor about this group and showed him some pictures of bad installs of rails. I asked him to please watch the install as I am very particular with gaps. He said he’ll take notes and take care of the truck. Luckily, I saw the technician and I happen to know him so I went to talk to him. He said he’ll take care of it and will try to install it as good as he can. After 2 1/2 hours, the install was finished. We did a walk around the install was perfect. Exactly the same position as the original cant rails. Only difference is the very small hump on the corner that you barely notice. My buddy told me once you wrap it again, it’ll be unnoticeable. The truck looked funny with the unmatched stainless steel cant rails. Couldn’t stand it so I called the wrap shop right away. Fortunately, the shop who wrapped my truck gave me the leftover wrap so I just brought the truck back to the shop with the excess wrap and the guy wrapped the new rails for free. Happy camper here.

I just got the Tesla mail regarding the recall but mine are on pretty well and I'm just a little hesitant to have them touched. Anyone else in same boat?
Yes, I have a wrap, and they were only offering $300 of Tesla credit if they replace it. I said I was fine, and it is in good shape.

IMO they need to recall these trash ventilated seats. Full blast, I feel hardly anything... meanwhile... other models have to turn theirs down to lvl 1 to prevent hypothermia.

yea yea i know they pull air rather than push it but the function is pretty lame regardless for an 80-100k car.

Also, V14 is coming out Monday. I promise.

Haha. I’d count myself lucky if this was the worst thing those dudes ever did to my truck. You’ll be fine.
This is all I see when I go there now.
@CT_AZ_4x4 and I have ruined each other jokingly calling the service advisors there monkeys. Now I can’t get past it.

Mine was fine before the replacement. It’s still fine now. Don’t worry about it. Just get it done.

They did mine when I had the tires rotated. I'm pretty sure someone had a seizure while putting them on. Now when I wash my car one side I have to be cautious because it cuts me and the other side snags my microfiber rag. Soooo basically the car looks like a modern art masterpiece.

yes I feel the same way as my cantrails show no signs of separation. I checked with them at Tesla and they said they would honor it whenever we need it.
I say, If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!

Your pictures match my experience. No significant difference. I really have to try hard to find the bump attachment point knowing where it is. If the SC does it well it really is not noticeable to anyone other than maybe the owner looking for it..

I don't think anyone is against the recall or wants to intentionally take on unnecessary risk, we all just care about our trucks and we see the shit quality results most people are getting back and we don't want it (just fyi, I had mine done already, I'm not thrilled about them, but there are way worse on this forum). I don't think it's unreasonable to ask, hey if you're replacing this part, can you at least make sure you put it on right - instead of having to fight with the all inclusive "In Spec" defense.
💯

I’m never against recalls. I am 100% against shitty repairs and things that wreck the aesthetics of my possessions. So, I will assume the risk I will check my cantrails regularly and if they fail I, will bite the bullet and hope for the best on my install. Until then, not gonna happen!

So I have an honest question because I know there are many good legal minds on here. Pure curiosity. No aspersions being cast at anyone deciding to do one thing or another whatsoever.
Let’s say there is a well known recall for something like this or some other thing that affects other road users, and that a driver has received adequate and reasonable notice of the recall but decides not to do it. Then, for the sake of argument something happens on the freeway like a cantrail flies off and causes a rollover or goes through a window and kills some thin skulled human.
Does it follow then that the driver who did not act on the recall notice is culpable for the outcome of the adverse event?
I considered not having mine done, when I had them add a slat to my tonnue cover. They told me that "If you decline this recall on this visit, Tesla will not be liable for any damages that may occur". I chose to have it done. The Lynnwood WA SC did a really good job. I can't tell it even has a stud. And the gaps look great.

Plus. The further away from the actual recall you get, the more experienced the service centers get with this and hopefully if you ever do decide to concede and do it, they will have dealt with enough angry motherfuckers they will know better what not to do.

I have to ask. Is there really another Cybertruck owner on here named Ace or is that just a handle? That’s my full legal name and I’ve met very few others which is why I ask.

I mean, ok.... This forum is littered with complaints about tons of service mishaps, but this must be the exception.
No, you're missing the point. It's a form of selection bias. People who have the recall done, and everything looks beautiful, without any issues, are most likely not going to waste anyone's time telling you there were no issues.

If I go out to the mailbox and don't sprain my ankle, I'm not going to tell my wife I went out to the mailbox and didn't sprain my ankle. But, yeah, if I do, she's going to hear about it!

Wait, your name is “Ace” and you became a surgeon?
