The linked story claims that:
Several truckloads of Cybertruck were spotted being delivered to xAI’s offices this weekend.

Furthermore, SpaceX has taken delivery of hundreds of Cybertrucks at Starbase of the last week and it is expected to take delivery of hundreds, if not thousands more in the coming weeks.
4Q 2025 was expected to be the lowest quarter of the calendar year for Cybertruck deliveries -- worse than 2Q 2025, which was estimated at 4,306 by Cox.

So if several hundred CTs, or a couple thousand CTs, are delivered to other Musk companies in 4Q, that could significantly impact the quarterly numbers.

Crazy. I think many other corps could do similar esp at bulk prices. It’s such a good value for a truck.

Does anyone else remember doing fund raisers as a child? Inevitably my parents would end up buying most of them because I would eat them and I had to hit the goal. This feels like that.
And I as a child wouldn't give two shits as long as I got my prize. Sort of feels like that :D

Or, Elon's ventures have been planning to buy fleets of CTs for quite a while, and waited for the right time.

Police departments are going to be ramping up soon too.

The headline is an odd form of journalism. It says Musk's SpaceX is buying hundreds of "unsold Cybertrucks".

Unsold Cybertruck's? What an odd way to say that. Can you imagine a reputable news source saying, NASA is buying 100's of "unsold" F-150's? I mean, they can't really buy "sold F-150's", can they? The implication is there is something wrong with having 100's of trucks in inventory when it's completely normal for Ford of GM to have tens of thousands of unsold trucks sitting on lots around the country, each and every year.

In fact, right now Ford still has over 2,800 nearly two year old trucks sitting "unsold" on lots (2024 models) and a whopping 106,000+ 2025 models "unsold".

Further, it's normal for Jim Farley to buy thousands of their own production for internal use, the sales figures include those trucks bought by Ford corporate. Yet the media never writes stories about that as if something nefarious is going on.

Electrek is junk journalism, worse than no news at all.

They were inventory vehicles. Many 2024 models, allegedly. That's not normal for Tesla to have that much inventory, especially compared to the low demand.
