Thank you Tesla FSD for preventing an accident on the highway today!

Full FSD 14.1.7. No intervention by me. Never felt unsafe...it was my son and I in vehicle. Stable. FSD reacted quick!! I could barely process the truck about to hit me...and the next thing I know FSD already completed the evasion maneuver!

If I had full control, then I am not sure if I would have reacted in time...and my reaction may have led to other unexpected consequences, such as running into median barrier, forcing to take exit, etc.

I cannot tell you how proud I am of my purchase after today. My wife is so impress after showing her the videos.

Glad you and your son made it out safe. People still want to deny the fact that FSD v14 isn't safer than humans when it can literally react faster than a human. Great tech and I always would want a Tesla in my home.

How do you get the videos from the vehicle? I cannot figure it out.

I am sure you all will trash me but I also see the CT passing several cars (3 at least) via the right hand lane before reaching the truck in question in these video clips.

The far right lane in a multi lane road (2 or more lanes in same travel direction) is not meant to be the passing lane in Texas except in very specific situations. The left lanes (at least in Texas) are stated via TXDot signs on most major roads are for passing slower traffic and then you are to go back to the right hand lane and proceed at normal traffic flow once you complete the passing. I have been on I-10, I-35, and Hwy 290 (also a major road between Austin and Houston) many times and these information signs are posted at intervals on the roadway.

We have no idea how fast the CT was going but it is obvious it was faster then the normal traffic flow as shown by all the video clips.

If the CT was going with the traffic flow there would have been room for the other truck to get into the right lane and exit safely.

I am glad the CT did what it did and everyone is safe. But this all could have been a nothing burger if the CT was just traveling with the normal traffic flow speed and not trying to pass others via the right hand lane.

So now go ahead and feel free to trash me. This is why in my prior post I stated I will try and be extra alert and careful when I see cars/trucks which I know have FSD as a option.

Lastly I am not saying anything bad or negative about the CT as a vehicle at all if you read what I say. The CT has many very nice features and was a bold move to make. So enjoy your CT and just try and be careful when on the road. Many human drivers also do not follow the rules and I would also state that if presented with these video clips on those forums.

I am new to Tesla. Videos are saved to app. Then I play the video and near/at incident, I tap record 30 seconds. And then it saves to your photo app.

that is all I know. 😊

Actually it was going with traffic. STANDARD driving mode. Right lane because exit coming up. One of the car that my CT passed before the truck in question was a VW car I think that just changed lane to that lane. Thus it was slower.

In the front view, you can see everyone going same speed as me…even the distant car that took the exit! The truck in question BRAKED to make the exit…watch his brake lights. The middle two lanes were slow bc of slow cars incidentally in those lanes (one of them was a delivery truck in front of the truck in question). But the cars in my lane were far ahead of me because that was normal flow.

The truck in question had to BRAKE to make last minute attempt to take exit. It was not that my CT was speeding…he braked!

Is there a way I can get the cabin footage? Would love to see me scream like a little girl on tape!

Too bad there is no company advertised on the truck. I've had two instances where I reported dangerous drivers to their employers. Companies appreciate it because drivers like this are a huge liability to them. Also, reporting may save lives.

I am not saying you did something wrong and I am truly glad the CT moved you over CyberTexas. But with the short clip it looks like you are going faster than most of the traffic and are in the right hand lane. I believe you 100% on your reply but if the other lanes are slowing down why not have the FSD also slow down as something is going on up ahead and you did note that by your explanation.

To me this is one of the weaknesses of FSD over a human driver. You as a human driver could see what is going on and would adjust I am sure. FSD does not use this human function and just waits till something happens when it is in it's camera range. Tell me if I am wrong please but I do not think FSD has the function to "think" like we do. You with your good eyes can see up ahead a good distance that something is causing traffic to slow down. Yet the CT just keep on going as it was programed to until something entered it's vision. To me that is a weakness in FSD and not sure if it could ever be overcome.

I am really glad you all like you CT's and if one of you gave me a test drive I am sure I would be impressed also but it is just to big for this older person no matter how nice it is.
Just please all, be safe, careful on the road and especially in real life. There are so many issues nowadays with the world and U.S. Let's try and be nice to each other if possible.... :)
