This is awesome, and I don’t mean to be critical, but it bothers me that it’s not centered, and if its not centered why not have it open to the side it’s closest to?
I suspect it holds the tire to the side so it does not obstruct the rear view camera.

What’s special about Bobo’s design is it preserves the rear camera view. There are plenty of low cost options out there for a center mounted spare hitch mount. but nothing that preserves the camera view.
One of the modifications we made was to allow to pin/lock in the open position. We just took delivery of our Space Camper Cap, we made the modification so we can’t get locked in by anyone screwing around. Still haven’t put the spare back on. Will post the complete set up in the next few weeks.

Ah that makes since, I hadn't thought about the rear camera. Why not have it swing open on the side its off center of? Clearance issues ?

Torque. We went to case hardened steel for the pin as is. The tube that extends when it's open provides leverage to reduce the stress on the pin.
