I own 4 cars all in my name and all insured by State Farm in Georgia. My 6 month renewal is upon me and State Farm is not renewing my CT only. All 3 other vehicles are being renewed along with my house insurance and my umbrella. The reason they are citing for non renewal of the CT is a minor accident I had in 2024 in a different vehicle, a minor accident my daughter had in 2025 in her separate vehicle, and a roadside assistance claim for towing a vehicle with a flat tire in 2025.

If the driving record of the entire household is the reason for non-renewal, why is State Farm not renewing the CT only??? Also, who on earth uses a roadside assistance call as a reason for non renewal of one of 4 vehicles? This seems targeted at the CT, and total BS.

I ended up getting a separate policy through Allstate just for the CT.

Strange. My Liberty mutual policy had a not at fault claim on my CT of 43k. My rates went down for the year. I have four Teslas and a Suburban.

Insurance companies are about easy to figure out as Tesla and all it's changes. Good luck 🍀.

After getting dropped, why would you continue to give them your business? They neither appreciate nor deserve your loyalty.

Insurance companies are all about themselves. Full stop.

Their underwriting algorithms no doubt see your three claims and see you and your expensive Cybertruck as a bad bet.

You really showed 'em by leaving all your other coverages with them.

THIS!!! I dumped State Farm years ago after they didn't want to renew my homeowner's policy for a claim that was caused by a major storm. Both our Teslas are with Progressive. I had a rock destroy my windshield on the way home from the dealership in the MYP. They paid the claim with no issues and our rates stayed the same.

DUMP STATE FARM NOW!!!

Some insurance companies are better than others, but none are loyal. They will raise your rates to limit of what they think you will tolerate without cancelling, and will drop you the minute you seem overdue for a claim.

I think it was Warren Buffet that advised to shop around your policy annually. If you can find a better deal, take it.

OP

Yeah, I am not loyal, $$$ is $$$, but I am going to keep status quo for the next 6 months with the state farm renewals for the bulk of it, and the new Allstate coverage for the CT. I will shop it all out in 6 months when it is renewal time again.

FWIW... In GA the CT with 250/500/500 Liability (high limits required for my umbrella), Comp/Collision with $1000 deductibles, Uninsured Motorist coverage, accident forgiveness, and a few other small bells and whistles came to $1700 for 6 months, not horrible, not great.

As a side note... if you have roadside assistance through insurance CANCEL it !!!! They (State Farm) used it against me to dump the CT! Get AAA or some other roadside!

I did call a company called Alfa insurance and asked for a quote for the whole package, Home, auto, umbrella, and they told me they do not insure Tesla's at all. I asked why and they said, "IDK"... I made a comment that is not a very valid reason to not sell insurance on one of the fastest growing and most reliable vehicles in America, and they hung up on me.

I wonder how much of this insurance BS is back door political harassment... Instead of burning Tesla dealerships, the underwriters are just excommunicating Tesla?

When someone tells you who they are... believe them.

Meh. I can't line my pockets with snark (I'd be rich lol).

Teslas are expensive to repair, so I can see an insurer being wary. But that's what rates are for.

Yup. Guy from Allstate called and basically said "I don't want to talk bad about a competitor [Progressive], but we had a lot of customers switch after promotional pricing expiring."

I told him they should have better promotional pricing then, so I'm going with Progressive for 6 months and then we'll see where we're at. Also told him to shoot me an email with a better quote matching what I need. Never got that email.

It's not like it's a month of pricing. It's 10x less and the full 6 months. Ridiculous.

Sorry to hear that OP. I also have my Cybertruck insured by State Farm.

Out of curiosity, I talked my State Farm agent, and asked about your scenario.

They said it didn't make sense for State Farm to cancel the renewal of a vehicle (any brand/model) for the claim of another vehicle.

They wondered that it could be other causes (or misunderstandings) for not renewing your Cybertruck. They suggested to talk to your State Farm agent, find out the 'exact causes,' try to correct them, and be able to put the Cybertruck back to the policy.

Best wishes,

I'll shop around every few years for a lower premium but same coverage. Seems there's always someone out there who wants my business.
