Thank you for you honest review!!So I ordered a single "starter" bottle to try out. While it does not prevent fingerprints, it does make it easier to wipe them off. After treatment, I am able to easily wipe off fingerprints with a dry rag. Before, it would also require a spritz of Windex.
It does not change the appearance of the natural SS that I could tell.
Application is pretty easy but make sure your truck is spotless as you are going to "lock in" any water marks etc. Learn from my mistake and also mask off the rubber window trim. My rag managed to brush against the rubber trim in one place which contaminated the rag and left streaks. I spotted it quickly and was able to correct the problem (it is slow to set so you have time) however I discovered later I missed a spot and it appears that streak will be there for the next few years. Nothing too bad but it won't wipe off now that the ceramic coating is protecting it. Mask things off and work in good lighting so you can spot and fix such things before the coating sets.
I only ordered one bottle and found it more than enough to cover the entire truck.
[Edit:] adding pic of the streak. It is subtle and I found it hard to get the camera to focus on it but it is that closed eyelash shape in the middle. It bugs me but not enough to buy another bottle and sand the door down to reapply.![]()
Thank you for your review!FWIW, I purchased both the starter package and the full 3-stage version. The starter package I wanted to use on my beast windshield, also applied it to my wife's Y Juniper windsheild, both applications about 3 weeks ago. Given it's only been a short time, but the results were fabulous, would highly recommend the windshield treatment. For the truck, the angle of the windshield, at least for me, is magic because when I take a 3,000 mile trip, it's amazing how few bugs there are, they all hit the frunk, but something about the wind force seems to give no bug traction on the windshield. However, in Florida, especially starting now, there is dust, pollen that collects, and I've found that the Silazane50 allows a rain (even just a heavy dew and a quick windsheild wipe) take all of it right off, and once the water dries, I don't even see a windshield washer wipe track, it's almost like there is no glass. My wife says same thing. about her Y. Have not done the 3-stage full treatment on her car because I had just waxed it about 1 week before I got the Silanane50, and so now will need to do a thorough cleaning and clay on her car before I apply the Silazane50 product. I have no interest in the product for the SS on my truck, I like the SS and ease of it's indestructability and upkeep without making it slick and shiny, I have found another way to avoid fingerprints.
TLDR version: Love the product so far.
Yes, you can provided the ceramic coating they applied is a genuine ceramic coating product, and not a wax product with a hint of ceramic in it. Just to be sure, I would make sure you use the degreaser provided, so that if it is wax, the degreaser would remove it.If I already have a ceramic coating applied over my vinyl wrap from the people who wrapped my truck, can I just apply this over the top for extra protection?
Based on how the water beads better in certain areas that others, even though they said it was a 10-year coating...I suspect it could use an upgrade...
The instructions say not to use on the glass with a windshield wiper as the blade may “catch” or stutter. This was not your experience? You applied it to the windshield without any problems? Was this just the single coat or the double coat system? Thank you!FWIW, I purchased both the starter package and the full 3-stage version. Did you also use the sealant spray?Correct, I decided to try it on the Windshield, used dawn/white vinegar to clean, then sprayaway, then a 90% Isopropyl alcohol to clean, also used the alcohol on the wiper blade. For me, no stutter, no issues. Did same on my wife's Y Junipler, same result.
OK, however, it's been on there about 15-months now. If it was a wax I'm sure it would have been long gone by now, right?Just to be sure, I would make sure you use the degreaser provided, so that if it is wax, the degreaser would remove it.
