It appears that Elon intends to send the Model S & X out with an extra bang. Signature Edition apparently only available by invitation. The person reporting this apparently owned one of the original signature editions.

Obviously, this requires corroboration, but it’s interesting, if true. I wonder if this will drag on like foundation series and keep going down the line until they find enough suckers, I mean “takers.”

seems like this is only going to be available to original signature edition reservation holders and limited to 500 of the Model S and 500 of the Model X.

I wonder if they’ll do something like this for foundation series cyber truck owners when they’re ready to shut it down?

Seems unlikely since we didn’t get a whole lot of love in any other shape or form.

I'd settle for just getting us all the originally promised features, like Powershare for Powerwall customers.......
Like PowerShare for all customers. I do not have a PowerWall and my PowerShare doesn’t work.

The only way this sticker price would make sense is to create the ultimate S/X version:
All the features stated above, and features which were included in Cybertruck & Model Y(L):
- 48v & 800v architecture (making it future proof to some extent)
- Four Wheel Steering
- Steer-By-Wire
- Electronic front trunk
- Thigh extension
- Only 500-1000 made per country or altogether.
Now that would definitely make it a limited / collector edition. One could only dream.

Re-engineering the S/X for 48V would probably cost close to $1B. With the the expected volumes they could sell (even if they could magically double recent years' volumes), Tesla would never ROI such investment.

Since we're on the topic of potential vaporware, I'd rather pay $40K more for the Roadster 2.0. Cold rocket booster!
Realistically, the Roadster 2.0 will be closer to $500K.

I believe it, this Signature Edition will be bought by wealthy people, and placed in their collections, probably not driven much, because someday, it will be worth millions, as many rare/limited editions become more valuable over time.

Story on it with more details:

https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/3...medium=notification&utm_campaign=article_3958

"According to IGN Senior Executive Editor Ryan McCaffrey, who broke the news on X, Tesla is producing just 250 units of the Model S Plaid and 100 units of the Model X Plaid (exclusively in the six-seat configuration) for this final series. The release is invite-only, meaning if you didn’t receive the specific email from Tesla, you likely won't be able to get your hands on one. "

160k… that is definitely way overpriced… I don’t anticipate they will sell many…
clearly marketed towards collectors or the filthy rich.

All right here’s another post on Reddit and this person gave a little bit more detail. Looks like it’s going to be 250 for each model for a total of 500 cars only. The price is hilarious: $159,420.00.

(1+5)9/420. Nice!

Lots of fancy flourishes including gold badging, gold calipers (S only), color matching key fobs. The S does get the full track package even though it’s sold out for everyone else. This really is a great send-off. Invite only.

Unfortunately, my unicorn just got downgraded a bit.

Very nice but yes, only for the FOMO crowd.

Tech moves too fast, just buy a current inventory X/S and save the money.

Cool but yes, only the FOMO crowd would buy.

Won’t be worth the price paid in three years.

Tech moves too fast, IE:

Bought very-very expensive 16” MAC few years ago, 2 terabyte SSD, 32 Ram, now $235 trade-in after receiving email from Apple they are no longer going to support IBM chip. 🙃

Say all that to say this, just buy a current inventory X/S and save the money.
yes, for normal people, the latest Tesla is always the better choice.

However, their are those super well off collectors, and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a brand new signature edition Model S/Model X, which was only offered when they were first released, and, preserve it in their collections.. There are many super wealthy with 50 or more "collector" cars.. this is what this is meant for. I wouldn't even expect these will be driven, much, if at all.. Most will probably have their SOC maintained at %40-%50 to preserve the battery as long as possibly.

Yep. That’s the major difference between “Lumina” (my ‘23 plaid) and these, I can actually drive mine! 🙂
