ceramic coatings must be reapplied. In order to properly do that it must be completely removed. That process will cause the matte finish to become more reflective.
So it will make it shiny?

Another Cybertruck wrap project in the books with Bearded Tesla Guy (aka Justin). This was a fun one.

The customer wanted Justin to deliver something special that paid tribute to his first car, a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. Justin arrived at our shop with a vision, and we were able to help bring it to life with the materials and graphics needed to really complete the look. It turned out incredible, and the customer was super happy. That's really all that matters.

- Wrapped in Boring PPF Satin Black - Boring PPF is our own trusted line of PPF at DIY Wrap Club (formerly Tesbros) and what we offer in our DIY color PPF kits.
- Tinted in Avery Dennison Supreme IR 25% - We offer this in our DIY window tint kits as well.
- Powder coated satin gold by Top Notch Customs in Flintstone, GA
- Graphics printed on Avery Dennison MPI 1105
- Ceramic coated in Gyeon MOHS EVO

Let us know what you think!

Thanks for the show of support guys. You’re all correct, if CyberSwag made that DRL lettering for tesbros and bearded, he did it off a template he already made for my truck several times over. Cool firebirds you added on the sides though guys. So many stylish touches.
Thats ok. I don’t have the name copyrighted or anything, but as you can see from the reactions on your thread bearded and the bro, it’s a fairly well known truck in this particular community that has been carrying that moniker since very early on so you may hear more of that.
I’m cool with it and you’re on the opposite coast anyway.
Cyberbandit is still the name of my truck though , and that won’t be changing. It’s actually the second iteration of this truck with the same name.
Love the wrap. Beautiful work. Just wish you’d gone with something more Smokey and less Bandit-ey. I’ve always been a big supporter of you both.
Just seeing this. Yep, CyberSwag made the DRL wrap and installed it a couple weeks before the transformation. We had a heads-up on the design so we added the firebird symbols on the sides as a custom touch. Fun project!

There's actually ceramic coating specific for matte/satin wraps to mitigate this. I've applied it on my satin black wrap for about 18 months now and it holds true to form.

its not the application that’s the problem.

its the process of getting it off to re-apply.

feel free to share your specific product if you dare!

Very cool. The cyberbandit twins are certainly not identical but they share the CyberSwag connection. For those of you who don’t know him, he’s a good dude folks. .
I went for the cyberglow in the front in the end and I mocked it up a few times. I just felt eventually like it was too pretty to cover with a wrap. Still sittting in my garage.

Oh yeah, sorry, should have included the product and link. It's the GTechniq Halo v2. Started using it in May 2024 when I got my truck wrapped. https://gtechniq.com/shop/auto/ceramic-coatings/halo/

Ceramic wears off naturally so not sure what you mean by getting it off to reapply. I do a "boost" refresh every few months which consists of a good wash, surface prep, and then a single coat to freshen it up. The film still looks satin but just boosts the hydrophobic nature.

Nice! I had the CyberGlow DRL on for a little while. Had issues with the light itself (the RGB worked fine but half the light wouldn't come on) so had to send it back. Waiting for them to receive a new shipment from Tesla and then I'll go back with it. But I did tint it and put a light bar wrap on it. Looked cool with the knight rider effect swishing back and forth under the letters!

Do you have an RGB on the off-road light bar as well? Or is that a reflection? Looks very cool!

This is not a “ceramic coating” in the traditional sense. Note that “Ceramic Coatings” imply a hardness built onto the surface of an auto finish (hence the term “ceramic”); they are designed to cure into a hard, rigid shell (often described as 9H hardness) that increases Scratch Resistance.

The coating you reference does not provide ANY scratch resistance whatsoever.

Thank you. No.. I haven’t gone that far. It’s not a light strip though I’ve thought about doing that and the bed light strips with another blue ghozt module. Probably later. lol.
My lightbar which is an oem Tesla one even though my car is AWD has this wrap on it.

It creates an interesting effect in sunlight because of the angle of the windshield. It sort of reflects a chromatic strip right underneath it which is a near dead-on match for the cyberglow rainbow type mode. That photo isn’t deliberate or doctored in any way. It just looks like that from most angles in the sun. Happy accident honestly.
Hit me up if you need a DRL. I have my near new one boxed up nicely in the garage and it’s mostly just taking up space.
At the time I didn’t feel comfortable giving away my OEM for a core fee but Ive since come to rely on the one I have there now.
It does look cool with the lettering too. I’m still of two minds about it. Got any pics or videos of yours with it on?

Yes, it very much does provide scratch resistance. It’s designed for vinyl wraps so it doesn’t use a pencil rating. But it is a dense protective layer akin to a 9H pencil rating that would be used on a painted surface. If you’re looking for a painted surface ceramic then they have the crystal serum product which has a 10H pencil rating. But vinyl film ceramic is not measured/rated the same way. The halo product is just a more flexible version with all the same benefits. And same as a painted surface, you don’t remove and reapply ceramic. It naturally wears down. If you wait too long and it’s completely worn off, you just surface prep and apply the initial coats (usually 4 - 5). But if you maintain it with frequent boosters, it’s a bit easier and less effort involved. But the vinyl ceramic gives you the same benefits. It’s still glass smooth to the touch and scratch resistant.

Very cool. It looks great man.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos/videos of it with the letters on before it went out.

You can always peel off the back and tack it up on the light bar without fully installing it to see if you like the look. If you don’t, easy to remove and throw away. If you do like the look, just let me know and I’ll send you a fresh one to install.

Also, we are planning a cross-country convoy of Cybertrucks this fall. A few off-roading stops along the way in Colorado and Utah and then a big meet at the Tesla Diner. We’re calling it Diner Dash 2026. If you’ve got a couple weeks to spare in September, y’all should join. It’s going to be a lot of fun and we’ve got some cool stuff planned at the Diner.

As mentioned, without a “pencil rating” it is not a true “ceramic coating”. In fact the term is not even used in any of the literature for this product.

Also, re-applying a pencil-rated ceramic coating without fully removing the original ceramic coating is against the installation requirements of pencil-rated ceramic coatings.

anyone telling you it’s not necessary is likely trying to cut corners or flat-out unaware/inexperienced. Run away!
