Much has developed since for me too. Started with a wide umbrella that works beautifully and actually fits neatly along the width of the truck (huge advantage). It’s the one in the photo next to the other Cybertruck.
I then realized it had to come down in order to put up the cybertent awning so I got a cantilever type which is a little smaller but awesome nonetheless because it’s directable.
that one unfortunately folds too long for the width of the truck, so I bought an umbrella bag for it. It’s fits roughly like yours but the bag makes it much slimmer and easier to handle. Has wheels too.

Looks nice. Much more wallet friendly than mine. The little wheels are handier than I thought though

Yep agree with all of that. I’m just not sure that the wheels would be helpful when I’m out overland, but I was immediately jealous of them.

Not really what I I use them for. Stays clean in the bed when we’re out. They are handy for in and out of the garage type stuff.

Yep that’s where the FOMO came in for everything but over landing moving it around in storage garage to the car all of that stuff I could see them coming in handy.

But, as a very manly man with broad shoulders. I just huck it up on my shoulder like Paul Bunyan with the added benefit of immediately impregnating all of the women-folk in the area.

They don’t know it’s a lot lighter than it looks. ?

Bump. Due to recent question from another forum member.
Anyone come up with a better solution yet than we did?

Those are super sweet. It’s just that not everybody wants a rack.

It folds down into a golf bag size…comes with a bag.
So by golf bag size do you mean it fits across the bed? Like a bed divider?

I was inspired by your post earlier this year and got the Camco hitch mount. Works great with my patio umbrella.

Really was a pretty inspiring post OP. Thank you for that. I don’t know that anyone here shelled out nearly two grand for the Humbra firefly which sure looks nice but is pretty unrealistically priced.
The concept is fantastic though.

Well, I couldn’t decide whether it made sense to post a new thread for this or share it here and I hope I made the right choice I don’t want to be hijacking, so, if somebody thinks I should move this I’m happy to do it … BUT, the dirt cheap option (this + that ) came in today and never have I been so happy to have not spent nearly $2000 an umbrella!!!!

One main benefits of OP’s option (besides what looks like incredible build quality) is that the offset nature of the canopy means that it probably won’t interfere with my rooftop tent when aligned parallel to the vehicle, but that’s probably just a simple matter of turning it perpendicular. I really won’t know until my MarsAG tent arrives (hopefully soon!).

I did order the original one posted by @RUREDEIAM above, but I found a similar one in light gray and I like the aesthetics of that next to the truck. I did keep the blue one with the added benefit of my wife thinking that I got all of this because I knew she would like a bigger shade for this summer!

IMG_4420.jpeg

So, added bonus, the divorce is on hold again! We’ll see how it goes when my UP order arrives. ?

this is a great alternative solution to the OP! I also found that triple wide umbrella in my quest for something cheaper, happy to see that it works. my only worry is the storage issues that both solutions creates.

before i found this thread, I was looking into rack-less awning solutions as well. so far ive gotten two of these:

https://a.co/d/09ca0ukd

I already have these that need more purpose than the one time that I bought them for:

https://a.co/d/080zNv3I

I just need a good tarp. im hoping that this will allow for a ton of different configs, and then a much smaller storage footprint. once I get it, ill post another (new) thread with pics.
