You’d have to back it in enough that any runoff goes to the front glass I think. Even if that means leaving the tailgate side open. If it’s unzipped completely could you drive the truck all the way through on medium height?
That is possible. I have never tried that. I only used the air canopy when it was not raining.

Doing some MTB maintenance under my $160 umbrella setup during a long supercharge in Moab.
My review from my trip:

The good:
- I can set it up in 2:30 minutes and tear it down in 2:30 minutes.
- I love that I can just rotate it to shift the shade around.

The bad(ish)
- It takes up a 5th of the bed space, which is a lot. 5’x10”x14”
- We have a big trip coming up so I wanted to stress test it. There was gusts of wind roughly ~25mph. It held up well and I could have just folded it back down, but I wanted to see how well it could hold up so I let it stay up in the winds until one of the spines broke. I wish it could take more wind than it did, but it’s not a complete deal breaker, you just have to know if there’s wind, you can’t use it.

If I can find something that is more compact and wind resistant and takes up less space with relatively quick setup and break down, that would be ideal

I have this one too and also a cantilever type which is smaller and therefore produces less shade albeit much better directable shade which surprised me. The bed space even with packaging it intelligently in a bag really is the bummer. The setup is very easy. That’s one of the appeals of that soli canopy for me. It looks like it stores in a much smaller package than what I have.
I went ahead and ordered the grey one so I can report back with comparative impressions.

I've been looking at the offset ones to get the shade area further aft, and also not shading solar panels. The other offset method I've been thinking of is to use a hinged hitch attachment system of some sort. Take a hinged rack of some sort and add one or more vertical pipes for holding umbrellas. You can buy bolt on umbrella mount tubes made to bold down to cement or whatever.

Very good idea. On a hitch swing type thing.

Yep. Maybe more complex. I've thought the ability to also attach a table to it would be good for cooking. I've been thinking of many possibilities.

If the hinged bar was as long as the bumper is wide, it would provide more possibilities. It's also possible to put a hinge into the middle of one of the long simple receiver umbrella holders. Extensions can also be added.
