Yes, I used 6061 aluminum for the standoffs and the C channel. Machined the standoffs on a CNC mill.

Note that on the very front the standoffs need to be a bit higher to clear the arch in the glass roof. I didn't have an endmill long enough to machine these any taller, so instead I added some spacers. But if anyone needs a taller version I will update the model and attach the file.

I also have another standoff design in the works for use with the strut and for making out of steel plate on a laser and/or plasma. Will post that one once I have it done and tested. I think that one would be the most cost effective DIY version around $150 total for four crossbars.

I'm thinking of running L-track down both sides. Then *somehow* mount Yakima crossbars to the L-track.

Yeah, this design was specifically to make a low profile system for carrying things on top like lumber, plywood, etc. The other version I have in mind will work for accessories you're describing.

Here is a teaser...

and then strut (unistrut, superstrut, etc) is bolted to that as a crossbar. At Home Depot strut is like $50 for 10ft....
