Seems like the rear quarter panel is made from a less bullet-resistant steel than the doors.

Yea, the doors are the only super thick parts I believe

doors are 1.8mm of HFS ( hard friken steel )

quarters are 1.4mm of HFS ( hard friken steel )

Lars said originally they were at 3mm. I wonder how much weight that would add. They should have given a "increased bullet resistance" option ;)

The Austin factory equipment was designed for 3mm of cold rolled 30x stainless steel.
The current Cybertruck doors are made of 1.8mm of HFS which is as hard as 3mm of cold rolled 30x stainless steel.
3mm of HFS might break the machines at Austin.
