Being a Michigander and watching the uaw destroy the state, I won’t buy a vehicle built by them.

this is the vehicle for me, I just hope things improve before my reservation is called.

I really hope so too for you! I got a little disappointed with no 500mi range.. but I have two teslas and I have learned range is not a big deal.. but I don’t tow (especially long distances), so I totally get the frustration to have such a good truck missing that key ability — range extender? If you tow does losing some bed space really matter when you can put things in what you tow?

Unfortunately the truck isn’t for you, unfortunately. But is it really criminal that the screwed you out of $100 that you can literally get refunded?

I was hoping for 500, but listen to some of the interviews.. they could have added all the batteries and weight and lost out on efficiency, price would have been much higher to make a profit and the crash safety would have been worse (with their stated goal always being safety first).
Sounds like a Silverado (when they make them) will be your jam. I hope it works out great for you! Some testers really like it
Not to mention the heavier weight of a 500mi pack would have a major impact on tire wear, the amount of money to charge the pack and heavier wear on the braking system (as well as sacrificing some of the towing capacity to offset the added weight). Until the 4680 geometry has reached a higher efficiency (which will happen over time as they refine the design/materials), the current 123 kWh pack is a good balance.

Until Tesla delivers my CT with the 500-mile range I reserved for, I feel completely swindled.

I understand the reason for shorting the range to produce more trucks to shore up the balance sheet, but I don’t accept it.

I’ll be towing 80% of the time and losing 190 miles or 38% of the range I reserved for is criminal.

So yeah, I have range anxiety before taking delivery…
Buy a Silverado it can tow ruther and has a huge battery.

I don’t really need the bed space, I was planning on building custom water tank to use to haul water to Taj-Ma-Haul once I dropped her off at the camp site. A “last mile” water delivery so as not to tow the extra 150 gallons of water weight.
I hate paying more for what I was expecting, but I really have no choice. Extra battery pack it will have to be.

I understand this point of view, but have reason to differ at least in part. From the 2019 perspective here is what we expected.
  • Single motor rear-wheel drive with 250 miles of range, 7,500-pound towing capacity, and 0–60 mph capabilities in under 6.5 seconds, for $39,900
  • Dual motor all-wheel drive with 300 miles of range, 10,000-pound towing capacity, and 0–60 mph in under 4.5 seconds for $49,900
  • Triple motor all-wheel drive with 500 miles of range, 14,000-pound towing capacity, and 0–60 mph in under 2.9 seconds for $69,900 (though this version won’t start production until late 2022)
I have the AWD, this is the "Dual motor all-wheel drive." Range, towing capacity, and 0-60 exceed the listed target specs. Price went from 50k to 80k.

For the triple motor version we're not getting the 14,000 lb towing and not getting the 500 mile range...

We are getting tight turning radius from the all wheel steering, which was NOT promised in 2019 and to me is very nice feature.

So is it criminal they haven't delivered the truck I ordered? Or that the AWD is 50% more than announced?

Don't be so impatient.

Criminal was for emphasis and not legalese…
To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Towing capacity and range shortage is more important with FSD where theoretically I could drive further on a charge with less stops using FSD.
The other bit is charging with a trailer at the locations I have available requires dropping the trailer, charging and then reconnecting Taj-Ma-Haul.

I plan on frequently driving between AZ, MT and MI so all of this adds up-to me.

Your use case was always going to be very edge case and include alot of charging time. Maybe what you want just isn't technologically feasible yet.

We both are just going to have to wait.

Easy solution: either pay up for the range extender or get your $100 back and free up a reservation space for someone who actually would be happy to take your spot.

Ehh, sitting on a reservation doesn't slow anyone from getting a truck.

...Because there's no action on the part of Tesla. Literally no time is taken from Service or Sales employees. They issue batches of invites; if you don't respond, they send out more. Since they do batches, they can build in an assumption of a rate of bypasses for those who are waiting or miss the invite.
