...Because there's no action on the part of Tesla. Literally no time is taken from Service or Sales employees. They issue batches of invites; if you don't respond, they send out more. Since they do batches, they can build in an assumption of a rate of bypasses for those who are waiting or miss the invite.

…Ehhh, you just contradicted yourself…clearly it takes time to determine if one responds or not before they send out more…

No, no it does not. It's the same time they'd have to take to check how many orders they'd gotten this week versus last. They don't care which reservations converted to orders, just how many.

Now, if you start your order, then you start costing the company time and money as they have to start doing things. Which is why that's a $1000 nonrefundable deposit.

Easy solution: either pay up for the range extender or get your $100 back and free up a reservation space for someone who actually would be happy to take your spot.
Being disappointed is not the same as wanting to cancel.
Difficult to know when my reservation will be called, I’m guessing 2 or 3 years so things certainly can change.

Clearly you’re overlooking the fact that if multiple people cancel their orders ahead of Tesla creating the next batch, then those Cancelled orders would not be included in said batch allowing those who were previously lined up for the next batch to be moved up into the current batch…

No. Like, just no. This is the exact point of reservations versus orders.

How is that work?

It's a button. On the computer. That they need whether or not someone retains their reservation and waits for the configuration they intended their reservation for.

are you honestly asking me to explain how time works?!? ??‍♂

I mean according to your poor logic if everyone cancelled their reservations except for the very last person who placed their reservation, they would still not receive their CyberTruck any sooner…if you still can’t figure out the flaw in your logic you might need to seek help elsewhere…

I just had my first long trip with my Cybertruck and the range was atrocious. Honestly it’s killed all momentum for me. I spent a lot of money on a truck that will only be used around town.

I understand that my driving conditions were probably the worst but I drove it like I would any other truck. It was 97 degrees out, 4 full grown adults, cybertent in bed and averaged 86mph. Speed limit is 80 on this part of interstate.

This is my first EV and I went into it knowing the driving conditions severely affect range but boy was I not ready for this. I left town with 300+ miles and I was only going 143 miles away. I went in assuming I would have enough mileage to get there and back.

With that in mind I intended to hit up a supercharger just for the peace of mind. This put full mileage at 183 from supercharger to supercharger. I rolled into the supercharger with 16%.

Well, if no one converted their reservations, you'd get it pretty quickly.

But since they have to go through the list anyway, and this doesn't change when the trucks are delivered, maybe you should think about how time actually works. When you convert your reservations to an order a day or week earlier doesn't mean you get your truck a day or week earlier.

I dare say your ICE vehicle may not have made it with the same range, either, if you're going at over 85mph. EPA numbers are for 50 and lower.

This is why almost every EV comes with a trip planner. And at 16% remaining you had 35 miles at your documented consumption before you had to start worrying about randomly stopping. Use the computer! It'll tell you. It knows the hills, the weather, and the vehicle.
