Non-Foundation Series CyberTruck on Tesla Lot and Showroom

I have a friend who just visited the Tesla Store in Brandon MS and sent me a video of a non-Foundation series CT in the showroom and said there were more on the lot. Is this normal? Or something new?

Thanks. My friend suggested I take a trip (about 3 hours) to buy one from the lot. I'm sure (now) that it would be a wasted trip.

All/most of the Cybertrucks that were initially being tested and delivered to showroom floors were non-foundation units.

Open to be proven wrong but I've not seen or heard of any new CTs being sold off the lot by any Tesla service center. Everything I've seen indicates that's not going to be a thing for a long while.

Makes sense to not etch foundation in the steel for a limited run. On showrooms Customers going to see it and wonder why there’s was delivered without the etching. Showroom models don’t even have to have battery’s etc there for show not driving.
Just my opinion.

Honestly, the etchings don't show up great in video. Could just be bad angles.

But I'm sure they aren't going to sell one to you off the lot lol

I'm going to guess that your friend was maybe confusing AWD vs Beasts and Foundation Series.

Maybe so. She like many of my friends have been following me for years waiting for “their ride”. But not following very closely as to Teslas revised production, trims and pricing plans. They are just a little incredulous that I haven’t gotten mine yet, and keep sending me photos and videos of sightings. (Which I appreciate!) She did sow a seed of doubt that I wasn’t tracking close enough and I immediately checked on my reservations.

They haven't even set up the website to sell inventory Cybertrucks yet.

I’ve visited a few dealers between CA, CO, PA and NC. Every CT I saw on the lot was not for sale, is the AWD (dual motor), and not a foundation series.

Well, for one thing, she is a Model Y kind of girl and was there to get it serviced. For another, it's not BS to think it's possible if you haven't been following closely. By the way, I'd need permission to post her video, which she'd probably be OK with, but really, is anyone interested in seeing one more walk-around video at this point?
