Any thoughts on the “parking brake not holding” message you get when launching and retrieving your boat. I don’t get why the truck can’t firmly lock the brakes when you are on an uneven surface ?‍♂

I haven't seen that before when launching.
Just how steep is your launch?

It’s actually not that steep. I would consider it normal.
In an ICE truck I would always set the emergency brake. A Tesla doesn’t have an emergency brake per se. I have been using the Parking Brake box on the Security menu. Now I’m wondering if this is any different than the normal parking brake? ?

AFAIK, the parking brake is automatically set. I've never set it in any of my Teslas.

This happens on +25% incline in tow mode. To set the brake you just hold down the Park button for 2 seconds. Never had slippage but the warning message always pop up when I'm unloading/loading on an incline.

I also get this same error whenever on the ramp. I agree, it makes me nervous!

I’ll try that next time.
I wouldn't listen to woodrick. He will assert things that make no sense in order to make tesla look better. He has no reason to believe that the parking brake (which is distinct from putting it in park) comes on automatically. He's just saying that to minimize your concern, as he does 100% of the time around here.

From the Cybertruck Manual

Braking and Stopping (tesla.com)

Parking Brake
The parking brake is automatically engaged when in Park, and automatically disengages when shifted out of Park.

and yet, there's mechanical noise when the actual parking brake is put on manually, so something additional clamps when the actual parking brake is set.

That's why the parking brake symbol does not appear when you put it in park.

So let me copy a little more. It only appears when you manually apply it. The noise, I expect, is it cycling.

To manually engage the parking brake, touch Controls > Safety > Parking Brake. Follow the onscreen instructions. Manually disengage the parking brake by selecting Parking Brake again.

When you manually apply the parking brake using the touchscreen, the red parking brake indicator lights up on the touchscreen.

there is a 0% chance that the car already has the parking brake on, and then releases and clamps back down when you manually engage the parking brake. That's nonsense

Sure, so you are just saying that the Tesla documentation is wrong?

It's this way for my Model 3 and my Model Y.
