I have an appointment to wrap my Cybertruck (Satin Black) and tint my windows next week. The installer asked me if I would like to tint the windshield also. I am unsure.

Do you all recommend tinting the windshield, as well?

I vote Yes. Huge difference in heat transmission.

I went 70% Xpel Prime XR Plus.

yes. BUT only if it's like the 70% Xpel ceramic already mentioned. Be warned that although it's hardly noticeable during the day (the darkened effect), at night, it can make things very difficult to see. In my last truck, I actually had to roll down my window to see the lane marker at the camper lot I was visiting. Amazing how dark that tint made everything at night.

During the heat of the day, it was a godsend.

I am a 1000% yes but you must understand what you are getting yourself into.

For example, tinting a windshield is not exactly legal in most states. I have a note from an optometrist that says I need it due to a medical condition. With that being said, I don’t think most cops really care as I haven’t been pulled over in 5+ years and I have 20% on my Model 3 windshield and 30% on my CT windshield, so I have never needed the doctors note.

Also, if you need to replace the windshield due to a rock chip, you are going to want that tint redone because you are going to love it. That is an expensive proposition. In my state insurance is required to cover one windshield a year. I have never tried to get them to cover the tint as well but I would imagine that’s a hard sell or maybe even something you would want to avoid anyway.

FWIW, I had to split my tint job into two appointments because of the time the windshield takes and the extra pair of hands required. Due to this I had the sides finished for a few days before I could get to the windshield. The sides are pretty dark in order to match the rears (15%) and without anything darkening the windshield it felt like it was glaring and was very annoying, at least to me. Also, you’ll want at least 55% or lower over the chemically darkened rears if you want the light to match from the inside looking out, if that matters to you. I guess it also depends on how dark you go on the fronts.

Anyway, huge difference in heat rejection, much better look, some privacy, and more comfortable inside. At least that’s my take on it.

I am talking about ceramic tint above. I wouldn’t waste my time with anything else. I don’t have the same concern as others as far as driving at night. I have 20% Crystalline all the way around on my Model 3 and it doesn’t bother me at all. I guess it’s different for everyone.

Yes, you won’t regret it. It’s pricey but it is HEAT REDUCING & it protects that huge dashboard from heat damage and aging prematurely.

I showed this video to my tint installer. They said it was their first CT but they were better prepared because of this video from OCDetailing.

For sure tint the windshield. Depending on the state I went with 70% totally worth it
This video explains and shows different tint percentages and heat rejection tests from @edc

Thanks for the share. I will share it with my installer also since it will be their first Cybertruck, as well.

What’s the cost for window tinting the CT? A few hundred dollars or are we into $1K+? TIA.

I called an Xpel installer in my area about tinting my X, about a month ago. They quoted almost $1700. I really wanted Xpel, but I opted to go for another brand for $800. That is ceramic tint every where, and tint on the front windshield, down to the mirror. Even the cheaper stuff makes a big difference. It rejects a ton of heat. I primarily did it, because we get better range at night, when its cooler, so I figured being more comfortable on day drives, and getting 10% better range, from less AC draw, is worth it. I will definitely be tinting the Cybertruck when it comes in, and I might just spring for the X-pel XR plus, or what ever that top tier was.

I went with 50% Xpel Prime XR Plus. $800-$1500 were my quotes here in California and I went with the $800 guy and I'm happy with it. My trick to avoid tickets (and probable cause for a stop) is that I didn't tint the side windows. I'm satisfied with Tesla's slight factory tint. My idea is that since the front side windows aren't tinted, the cops can see in and won't write a ticket.
