I can't quite tell from the pics: Do the 4 crossbars end up being in a plane? Like, would an 8 foot straight edge touch all of them if laid across them? (the pic makes it look like the frontmost one isn't in plane with the others, but might just be the some aspect of angle and lens)

Great question! Here's the answer from our engineer:

The short answer is it's almost a plane, but not quite. The delta in Z is very minimal but the truth is you cannot fabricate a flat glass (hence the glass canopy is at a curve). However, the z-delta is so minimal that we basically treat all 4 mounting surface on the same plane and has found no issues so far.

100% - we debated hard and long internally on the adjustable mechanisms (no gonna lie, it's actually cheaper for us since you just need to fabricate & stock up 1 size instead of 4) but we decided it was a better idea structurally.

Looking at some well-known accessories makers out there for other vehicle platforms, one thing we've learned is that simple is the best!
110% agree. Keep up great work / products and I will keep purchasing! Dying to get a real front and rear steel or cast bumpers, not to mention something similar for bed rails and tailgate cap. I love Unplugged’s bumpers but just can’t swallow the cost even though I know it’s justified R&D wise being the first outta gate. They show available but then on order screen I get back ordered. Much appreciated for you guys lurking in shadows until you knew supply chain could produce. Maybe my jeeps and broncos spoiled me with the mass amount available with traditional oem’s, but would figure there are enough trucks roaming around now for a great product like yours to steal the show early on.

Hello guys,

We'd like to introduce you to our latest product, the MARS™ EXPEDITION CROSSBARS. We believe there is a perfect balance between form and function and compromises aren't necessary. In developing the crossbars for Cybertruck, we discovered some compromises that the Tesla engineering team had to make for a cleaner exterior look which made it challenging to design a functional crossbar system that’s also easy to install. After many iterations and tests on our own vehicle, we finally came up with a crossbar design that matches the vehicle exterior while providing a variety of mounting features.

  • All metal construction - made with 6061 Aluminum (we believe any use of plastic on the exterior is “anti-cybertruck”)
  • functional crossbar with a large contact surface area and multiple T-slots for attachment points
  • universal rooftop mounting connector that’s compatible with other MARS™ accessories such as the MARS™ Side Bar

If anyone on the forum has received theirs yet, we would love a review.

Just received mine yesterday. I bought all 4 (just in case). The bars are very durable but light considering their size. The installation does take a few minutes, so this is NOT a quick install/remove procedure. MARS provides a QR code that takes you to the instructions, which were very helpful (and should be read before installation!).

I've installed two and here's how they look. I plan to strap a kayak on it tomorrow and I'll post more pictures afterwards. They did include some T-slot bolts with the rails. For some reason, Tesla did not provide nuts for all of the bolts in the attachment points on the roof, so be sure to check before you start installation. I was able to pick some up at the local hardware store, so no big deal. If this configuration works, I'll be happy: I didn't want to have the kayak hanging too much over the tailgate (so I could still see behind me using the camera). I also don't want the kayak to protrude too much over the front glass for better aerodynamics.

Putting the crossbars to use. There is zero overhang on the tailgate with a 12' kayak. Thanks MARS!
