I bought early June. Install was scheduled for last week but “the part did not arrive”. Now looking at mid-August. Which comes first - Cybertruck FSD or my spare?

Found someone who swapped wheels/tires selling the oem’s. Bought one and then got a cover and straps and called it a day. Simple

With as overwhelmed as many of the service centers are, with longish waits for (truly important) service needs, one has to shake their head that Tesla requires a SC appointment to "install" the spare tire!

I can, maybe, see the spares being shipped there, and a customer having to make arrangements to pick it up, but having to make an appointment?!

I had the fortunate/unfortunate situation of buying a replacement tire just after buying my truck. A fence company was installing a new fence and left lots of nails near our driveway. I ended up with a nail in the tire and I tow on a not irregular basis. Upstanding contractor offered to buy a new tire for me because he also tows and didn‘t want me towing on a patched tire. At that point, the punctured tire only had ~800 miles on it. So, I kept that tire, went to Discount Tire and bought the cheapest rim they had (that also has acceptable weight ratings) and I now have my spare. Total cost ~$750 ($500 for tire; $190 tire; $60 lug nuts). I may invest in a cover for it, but so far it’s fine. Having a separate set of lug nuts for the full size spare is now a little bit of a pain, but it feels like I’m just finding something to complain about now.

EDIT: I did luck out that the old tire was punctured smack dab in the middle of the tread, so it was a truly perfect puncture that was patched.

The Service Center installs all the tiedowns in the bed for you. Sure, maybe you can do this yourself, but it is included in the purchase price.

When you get your D-rings that will be provided for Foundation series, I think most people can do this setup for significantly less than the tesla price. That was my point. I wasn’t knocking OP’s decision. I was simply pointing out another alternative. That’s it.
