Wow... $580? You may want to just go invest in some better tires... you can get some great tires in the low $400s each which are a ton nicer quality than Goodyears.

Definitely road damage and not vandalism.
I would NOT DRIVE with this tire any more than necessary and not at highway speeds.

I thought about doing the same however to my understanding, Discount Tire is unable to replace our current Goodyear tires since they're specifically made for the Cybertruck and Tesla. Have you heard differently or have additional details on how Discount Tire would handle these types of situations?
Oh, one more thing. The insurance includes tire repair and rotation. The tech recommended rotating the tires every 3k miles since the truck is heavy and fast. We'll be doing that too.

united tire utires.com also solid. I grabbed one already “used once” for like $192. Next need to find a rim.

Make sure you post the sentry video, so hopefully someone will recognize the culprit....
There is no culprit. That is a classic cut from driving over debris that had something sharp sticking out of it and the driving over it caused it to rotate back towards the tire sidewall.

I would agree with others, does not look like malicious. 2 reasons, 1. It's missing some rubber out of the cut, do you know how hard it is to cut that rubber, let alone take a piece with it. 2. Why wouldn't they finish the job? If they had the strength to remove a chunk of rubber with it, then they had the strength to puncture it all the way through.

I highly recommend getting your tires insured. We have ours insured with Discount Tire. It cost $396 for all 4.
If something like this happens they will replace the tire.

I’ve had every car insured this way and have always come out ahead.
Same. I drove directly to discount tire right after delivery.

However, it specifically states that the Tire Certificates does NOT cover Vandalism. So if someone slashes your tires, it’s not considered a “road hazard” damage. You would either pay out of pocket or go through your car insurance.

I would tell them I hit something in the road. Not sure how anyone can “prove” vandalism.

That is what I am saying. But the OP’s title says “someone slashed my tire”. If your going to walk into Discount Tire and state that, that’s all the proof they need to deny you.

No one slice your tire, it was a curb of object in the roady or driveway. And, DO NOT drive on that tire. Sidewall cuts are bad due to the sidewall being much thinner then the tread.

Just local driving till you get it fixed.
Keep it under 100 (jk).

If it's a back tire your safer than it being a front tire. If it is a front tire and your wait for a replacement is long you might want to move it to the back to be a bit more safe in the event it starts a big leak.
