I considered this method of carrying the spare, and quickly decided against it. It interferes with access to the vault. Even when you take the time to lower the tire, the 34" diameter spare won't allow the gate to open fully at the lowest suspension level. More importantly, when the tire is mounted and in the travel position, it blocks the rear camera.
