There is an energy field around the Cybertruck as you probably have noticed. I'd love to read about other's experiences with weird behaviors and how you deal with or react to them.

Here's my initial list
  • People in front of you driving slowly because they are taking selfies or looking at your car
  • People behind you speeding up to look at your car
  • People who speed past you with an aggressive look presumably to antagonize you to race
  • People who ask you to roll down your windows to talk/ask questions
  • People who ask to see the inside (with the expectation of jumping in the car-not just taking a glance!)
  • People who touch/sit on/crowd around your car when parked whether you are in the car or not
  • Lots of thumbs up.
  • Occasionally thumbs down.
  • Jaw drops and wows
  • Kids love it - point and scream "Cybertruck!"
Bonus, just this weekend, I've had a couple more incidents that are new. I found spit on my car. In another incident, a guy in another EV (Ford Mach-E) made a point to drive past, roll out the window, and mockingly laugh.

It's not all bad. Sometimes it's fun. But the negative stuff sucks.

Seen more rude lately. The online crowd is leaking out and getting a bit more encouraging of their malcontent.

I love my truck. I have issues with Tesla service but that aside the truck is awesome for what I want. Could I see some flaws. Absolutely! Did my raptor have flaws? Absolutely! Does my wife's navigator have flaws?! Oh yea.

But I've never seen people be so openly negative about someone else or their belongings and it be acceptable. It's akin to walking down the street and expressing your opinion that you hate someone's haircut. Or their suit. And doing it openly and aloud for all to witness. It doesn't reflect well on who they are as people, but to them it seems socially acceptable. To each their own.

I didn't buy the truck for them. And I'm happy.

My favorite - When dads come to ask if their kids can take a look - always polite and full of wonder and grateful.

Also was stopped by a local voluteer fire rescue truck to check it out. Jokingly said "we need you to come to the station so we can see how its build, in case we need to rescue someone.

I also noticed that of ALL the reactions - the people who try like heck NOT to react are the other pickup owners. Many times they try to "wish the cybertruck away" - green with envy perhaps.

I also had a really fun guy come up to me at a home depot and the first thing he said to me is "Hey what the F*CK is that thing and why doesn't it have door handles? How the F*ck am I going to steal this thing?" LOL - great dude. New Jersey is like that.

Yup, someone spit on our Beast too. Seems to be the next level escalation.

Unusual times.

Do Ferraris get spit on?
Did Prius get spit on?
Do we see similar reactions on Rivian?

If all the above is no then is this just purely a Elon Musk thing?

I don’t understand it. I’ve had a model three for 6 1/2 years and 100,000 miles and never got a second glance

After a few weeks of CT ownership, I have 90% positive but have received A finger, a thumbs down, but otherwise otherwise positive and curious

I don’t pay attention to other people only their vehicle. Don’t car to look at the person in the vehicle.

I've had a strange number of people pull over in front of me light I'm pulling them over it something. At first I thought it was just me over thinking it, but now that I've been driving it a good 10k miles it definitely happens way more often than I'm used to

I live in N.W. Washington State and see almost entirely positive reactions.

Today I was driving by a rural soccer field full of middle or high schoolers playing soccer. When the first kid saw me driving by he called it out and went bezerk. Then about half of them started jumping up and down, screaming and pointing.

I think people are tired of the stats quo, of all trucks looking the same. Because most people who go bezerk like that don't even know how much better the underlying truck really is, they are just reacting to the futuristic-looking styling.

Of course there have been Ferraris and Prius that have been spit on. Most of the incidents just don't make national of international news.

Rivians might be exempt because with those headlight it looks like a toy or clown car.

Keying cars is old behavior too. Keying did not start with Teslas.

Sometimes it is the Ferrari driver doing the spitting :-(

Spitting on car?

Got back to my car last night (parked in a decent multi-storey) to find some scrote had spat all over the bonnet.

Rang the car park today, as it was in front of a camera - and they reckon they can easily get the VRM of the person that did it - as they would've been walking to/from a car.

I know it's not the biggest deal in the world, but the kind of people that do this are the same ones who then go onto key cars too. Is there anything that I can do?

I just get pissed off that you can't drive a nice car, and park it up in a decent place wihout someone doing something to it.

We should have someone create an aftermarket product that “spits” back. Wouldn’t that be fun to film with sentry mode? Like your own personal Candid Camera episode (I know, dating myself here). I don’t care if it’s like a squirt gun spray of water, or if it blows bubbles and makes a hawk-tuah noise, or whatever. Just something comical to put people like this in their place plus the footage to post online for eternal posterity and show the world what kind of person they actually are.

Frankly i’d be ok if it was an ankle-level baseball bat thst swept them on their asses and then the truck had a way to point and laugh like Nelson Muntz from the Simpsons.

Anyway, this kind of behavior is really grotesque and is sad commentary on the state of society right now.

Vast majority positive reactions.
But I look at it this way:

Cybertruck don’t give AF.
it just rides along, knowing it owns just about everything else on the road.
It loves rent free in the brains of malcontents and Elon haters that want to be negative

those who feel the need to express themselves negatively are people I’d never want to know or interact with and my care factor is zero

As more and more CT take to the roads, these interactions will decline.

As more and more truth about how awesome the CT is counteracts the ridiculous amount of FUD, CT is the winner

I saw someone drive right through a red light (with their phone at the window trying to video me) and almost T bone the car on the other side that started to go at the green light. I also have a couple sentry videos of people taking videos of my truck and stepping backward in front of a passing car to get a better angle.

After 6 days with my CT, I've not had a single negative reaction so far. Lots of looking, photos, talking, waving, etc., but nothing negative.
