Okay, I'm wrong about that if he has a CT.

Empathy for someone who couldn't control their impulses? It's much better for them to lose the deposit. Maybe they won't repeat the behavior again and fell less entitled to be able to break agreements.
Well, I think people were silly to think the deposit would get them to jump the queue. But the guys who had some reason they couldn't complete the purchase having their delay dates moved... well, I'm more empathetic to them.

The problem is, what happens if Tesla isn't making the Foundation Series on that date? It's not a simple problem.

Yes, Tesla has shown empathy, or at least flexibility, in the past when doing so likely cost them little or nothing, but we are getting down to the wire when they need to wrap up the Foundation Series, and these kinds of loose ends can become logistically expensive, an administrative headache and disruptive to the rollout of the standard Cybertruck models.

I wanted to update that I took delivery of my Cybertruck yesterday. When the remainder of my funds finally came through, I ended the hold on my order and was immediately assigned a VIN... like hours afterwards, not days. So much for those claims that there was no inventory left of Foundation Series Cybertrucks!

If I remember correctly, the "DUE NOW : $1000" is literally on the configuration page. There's no way someone could think they were ordering anything but the configuration displayed. Changed your mind? Sure. But misled in any way, shape, or form? Nope.

Pull up Domino's website and order a supreme pizza. Then when the delivery guy shows up with the pizza already made, tell him you actually wanted just pepperoni. Or tell him that you just made a bologna sandwich instead. See if they'll refund your card.

For people who order 5 years ago, it's more like ordering a pepperoni pizza in the first place and then when it comes time for delivery. 5 years later pizza place says " all we've got are Supremes for now, do you want to cancel your order you've been waiting for for 5 years or stay on the list". And then you pay to stay on the list but they lock you into a supreme pizza when you only want pepperoni still.

Good analogy but there is a flaw with it, those people did not ORDER 5 yrs ago, they placed a RESERVATION and only paid various amounts like $100-$250 (refundable upon reservation cancelation) to reserve their place in line. Then once ORDERING became available, Tesla then launches the FS series and those reservation holders were invited to ORDER an FS Cybertruck AWD or Tri-Motor and in that ORDER agreement was required a $1000 deposit to cover the manufacturing ordering and logistics of getting that truck to persons local SC area.

Once the reservation holder then cancels that order, it’s contracted that Tesla at their discretion can either cancel the order with no refund of the $1k deposit or extend your order for up to 30 days (still for an FS version not single motor that is not even available yet). This does not mean to change your ORDER for a FS CT to a single motor CT later once available.

The problem is too many people assumed their reservation was acting as an actual order, also they assumed once the FS launched they could just transfer that order they made for an FS model, to a regular single motor variant.

Any reasonable adult when ordering could plainly read the ordering contract and in combination with the online conversations surrounding the FS ordering process, that Tesla was not currently selling what they in their mind reserved 4-5 years back, but instead was selling a product launch version called the FS CT in either dual or tri-motor with included FSD and other benefits/features, later to not be included with the regular CT once those become available to ORDER.

So using that analogy, people reserved a pepperoni pizza once the store announced they opened for orders, however they only have supreme available to order at launch and the person decides to order that supreme pizza for a fee that is non refundable to cover the business costs making such a pizza, but expect to receive once the pizza is deliverable, a pepperoni pizza?
Those that expect a single motor Cybertruck when ordering began with the announcement that only FS versions are only available, fail to realize that regular single motor trucks are not yet ready for order and should have held their reservations and not ordered until those single motor versions were available to do so.

Foundation Series Cybertrucks are still rolling off the assembly line Monday through Thursday so no reason they couldn't assign you a VIN and deliver one to you. We were told orders would end in the 3rd quarter and there are 8 more days left to see if that holds true. When it does happen some deliveries will still be pending.

There were no such rumors? They're still taking Foundation orders. So I'm still waiting to order.

I'm glad you got your truck.

SIGN THE PETITION https://chng.it/74JWJbTxJz

Tesla is cancelling Foundation Series Cybertruck orders, and forcing people who ordered an FS Cybertruck to take delivery or lose their $1,000 deposit.

In November 2023, Tesla starting taking $1,000 deposits for a Foundation Series Cybertruck.
There are plenty of people that put a $1,000 deposit thinking they would get a non-FS Cybertruck.

Our petition is for TESLA to:

#1 Allow those people, who put a $1,000 deposit, to get put in the line to get a non-FS Cybertruck.
#2 OR convert to another Tesla Model delivery
#3 OR convert to Tesla Cash.
But isn't that $1000 non refundable?

Yes, they're observing there was confusion (which I don't think was Tesla's fault) about if it was for just the configurations offered, or included ones offered later. Also, some were offered to put off the purchase for six months to a year, and Tesla seemed to be rescinding that offer without warning. And lastly, some others put it down based upon features that Tesla has put off delivering, such as the extended battery for towing.

So while I saw the non-refundable and said heck no; others still want a Tesla, and so are asking to be allowed to put it towards a future vehicle.

How many people could possibly be in this position?
