Man, those heating elements have to be drawing a lot though. Best truck ever!

15A for grill
12.5A for pot..
May be a short camping trip lol
The grill is pretty efficient, you don't get that massive heat loss when the wind blows like a gas grill. The electric isn't on the entire time, it comes and goes to maintain temperature. For a 123 KWH battery, its a drop in the bucket.

27.5A * 120V = 3.3kW
123kWh/3.3kW = 37 hours or over a day and a half of continuous use...
I guess you all show up to your destinations with full batteries? Lol

Cybertruck26, I think you have missed the point regarding energy usage.. The hot water device is on for about 3 or 4 minutes and the grilling for the hour or 2 it's on, even then, it isn't running continuously. I drove to Burning man with this truck, stayed for a week, used it as a power plant a few times, drove back to Reno and still had 90 miles left.

I think you all are too serious... nobody was talking shit, so no reason to be all defensive about usage. I am quite capable of doing the math. I was wanting to take a camping trip with my truck and was trying to figure out usage, my tongue in cheek comments weren't calling the vehicle inefficient, nor were they framed to start a debate about energy/battery efficiency. If I drive a few hours for a weekend camping, and I don't have a luxury of a charging station nearby, it's pretty common sense that heating elements are gonna pull some wattage.

All this aside. I see that @the43k is a firefighter... Thank you for what you do.

The other solution not mentioned in the video is to run an extension cord from the cabin outlets (because it's on a separate 120V 20A circuit).

I wonder if that would be slightly more efficient or not.

I also wonder if the efficiency drops if the loads on the two hot legs of the 240V outlet are not balanced. That would occur in the use case featured in the video since the grill will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature while the water heater will stay on continuously.

I've already used the bed outlet while camping to power an infra-red toaster oven like this:
Amazon.com: Panasonic Toaster Oven FlashXpress with Double Infrared Heating and Removable 9 Inner Baking Tray, 1300W, 12 x 13 x 10.25 inches, Silver: Home & Kitchen
Tesla Cybertruck Power adapter to add 4 additional power outlets to Cybertruck bed. Makes tailgate party even better! 1727363908069-ni

This is a really good option for camping because infrared heat is quicker and more efficient than a toaster oven with traditional elements. The infrared heat penetrates the food more quickly. This toaster oven does an exceptional job of quickly cooking things like chicken breasts (or other chicken parts), fish, vegetables, roasting peppers, etc. It's also great for re-heating leftovers, pizza slices, making toast, etc. For only 1300 watts (that will cycle on/off as needed when baking) it packs a punch greater than its current rating might imply.

Here are two more appliances I've found useful for casual camping because they make the most of electrical efficiency:

Tesla Cybertruck Power adapter to add 4 additional power outlets to Cybertruck bed. Makes tailgate party even better! 1727363245884-k

This makes surprisingly good espresso, but you need the Illy capsules which are best ordered online for availability reasons. It's super energy efficient with a very quick warm-up time. It pulls a maximum of 850 watts (and is generally pulling a lot less than that, even when drawing a shot).

Amazon.com: Nespresso Aeroccino3 Milk Frother, One Size, Black: Home & Kitchen

This milk frother turns the Illy espresso machine into a full espresso bar and it will heat up one or two portions of milk in about 60 seconds or less, drawing 500 watts. You can run both of these on the same 20A outlet without a problem.

I've used all of these items with a 1.4 kWh battery generator, so I know how efficient they are. However, with the Cybertruck's outlet and big battery I leave the battery generator at home.

Casual car camping is a lot better with a Cybertruck! Maybe we should call it "car amping glamping"! ?

I've had bad luck with no-name electrical equipment on Amazon. Had a few power strips blow out.

Does any reputable brand make a UL Listed version or is this type of device frowned upon?

That is a pretty great idea. I am not very good with electricity. I found this at home depot. Do you think it would work the same. parkworld 25 ft. 10/3 RV 50 Amp to 15 Amp Tri-Outlets Extension Cord NEMA 14-50P to(3) 5-15R Adapter Cord 886245B - The Home Depot

Mark
It's not as good because it splits the 240V power into only 15 amp 120V circuits. The 240V outlet is a high amperage power source, so there is no downside to splitting it into two 20 amp 120V sources.
