I originally ordered the Tri Motor cyberbeast back in 2019, and was invited to do the Foundation Series (as everyone else has been).
I up until now had decided to pass.
After recent frustrations with my Lightning I've decided to sell it. (carvana picks it up tomorrow)

My plan (and i've already placed the order) was to get the Cyberbeast as originally planned. I will be making a down payment of about $105,000.00 so financing will just be for that last little bit.

I had done my research, and I chose to go with the beast Foundation because I felt the value per dollar was more worth it because of the $4,000 Powershare install credit. (Which I now know it no longer includes..) and the Lightbar. (But a lightbar isnt worth 20k... lol)

So discouraged, but still pretty decided i was going with the beast...
I watched Kyle Connor's 2 hour 15k Mile review on his Cyberbeast. He made multiple mentions that hed suggest getting the AWD instead.
He pointed out that the AWD is mainly RWD with front motor assist, Where the beast is mainly FWD with rear motors assist. I completely understand this, I am a huge fan of RWD cars over FWD.
Another Benefit over AWD is I could pay cash for it, and have no loan.. Which is a pretty big plus for me.

Now im second guessing... So I wanted to ask:

TLDR: If you bought the AWD, Do you regret it and wish you had gone Cyberbeast?
OR: If you bought the Cyberbeast, do you regret it and wish you had one AWD?

Bought the beast, no regrets but I did get the free powershare system so I feel like I got good value for money. I am waiting for foundation series to end, then I will buy another beast.

If you're asking this question, then you will regret if you're not going for the best.

I got the Beast because the extra $20k to me wasn't that much more. It's different for everyone. I took a lot of extra weekend call shifts last year when I was waiting for the Cybertruck. It actually worked out because my family came with me, so I didn't lose too much time with them which was the most important thing for me. My specialty was so in demand, I can make a little over $20k in two weekend shifts after tax. I did two weekends a month for 6 months.

I didn't give up too much for that $20k last year. Hardest part was waiting on the VIN for the Beast instead of the AWD.

Been waiting for it since November 2019. So I said F it. Get the top trim.
I was assigned a vin the very next day. Which was shocking to me. I was expecting 1-2 months at least. Im not even ready so i had to put my order on hold for 2 weeks.

I'm the reservation that got screwed. Reserved 5 days after the reveal but got booted in the end of the line and got the VIN with people who reserved a year or so after I did.

Pro tip for next time: Finance the whole thing, and THEN drop a lump sum payment as soon as you can setup billing. Much better insurance policy in case anything crazy comes up and you have to start liquidating.

with my down payment id be looking at ~$300/month where if i had financed it all, it would be about $2,000/month.
Plus i've found that with a big down payment i usually get a better interest rate than with minimum down.

So what am i not understanding how thats better?

I’ve heard it said that if you have to make a pro/con list to take some action, the answer is “No”.

Of course, in this case, you could go either way haha!!

What are the pros/cons of going CB?
What are the pros/cons of going AWD?

I went AWD because I didn’t want to wait until “late 2024” for the CB (took delivery of AWD May 2024).

Also, Tesla subtracts rollout on the 0-60 time for CB, but not for AWD (they’ve done this before with the Performance/Plaid trims to make the delta on 0-60 look bigger than it really is. Not a fan of the practice).

CB w/rollout subtracted is 2.6 sec
AWD w/rollout subtracted is 3.8 sec

Not that 1.2 sec quicker isn’t a whole lot quicker, haha!! But sub-4 for 0-60 is fine by me.

And, I can use the extra $20k for all the tires I’m apparently going to burn up, haha!!

Gonna sound silly, but if you want to use the power of the cyberbeast you can probably expect about 10k miles from a set of tires (if that). The AWD will probably get you 20k Miles. Set of four tires will run you $2k-ish. For me, one of the benefits of an EV truck is the much lower cost of fuel and maintenance. Whether you have the beast or AWD, the way Teslas eat tires will cost you more than an ice regardless. But, the AWD will cost you less in tires versus a beast IF you use the power of the beast.

If I started second guessing or regretting actions or decisions over the course of my life so far, once I made them, based on the information or situation at hand….. then I would be a mess.

So Beast …. And no regrets.

When I made my reservation in July 2023 I was way down the list. I might have got a truck toward the end of this decade. When the foundation series reservation offer arrived in July 2024 I only paused to check to see if it might be a scam. When I found it to be a valid Tesla offer it took me a matter of seconds to compete my configuration and order for the Cyberbeast with range extender. That's about 136K total. About twice what I paid for my house many years and much inflation later.

No regrets.
Looking forward to paying for the rest of the range extender when it is available and installed.

Today I received my registration packet from Tesla and took it to the local DMV. Wyoming is quite high for licensing. With sales tax and registration it came to over $8500. That stung worse than all the rest. I hate paying for bureaucracy. There's not much return on your investment.
