According to the service manual on scratch repair, you need to buff the entire side of the truck. So, if the damage is on the upper half of a panel, the entire upper half of the truck needs to be sanded and buffed to maintain an even appearance.

Otherwise, you’ll end up with panels that are noticeably lighter in color compared to the rest.

Incorrect. According to the Service Manual, you only need to polish the portions of the panels lying in the same plane (hence the color coding in the above diagram indicating the portions lying in the same plane). You do not need to polish the entire side.

In practice, I've found this to not be necessary unless one is really picky. Truth be told, most Cybertrucks were not even delivered from the factory with a perfectly consistent panel finish so it's pretty easy to make it look better than new, even when not finishing every panel with the same orientation.

Putting a wrap on it will just make it worse. If someone keys your wrap, you need to replace the wrap, and it probably won't be a perfect color match because the plastic wrap will be from a different batch and has had zero sun exposure. Also, I can polish metal, that's easy. Not sure I want to apply wrap.

So that didn’t take long. I’ve owned the truck for about 60 days and an upstanding citizen let me know what he thinks of the truck…

I don't know what it was but it penetrated the stainless steel to scratch my truck... it doesn't rub off as easy as a like a finger print does ( that's funny ) the metal was damaged.
