While im waiting Friday delivery I have of course told a few people that I traded my Lexus LX600 for the Cyberbeast and out of 20 or so people in my inner circle only one person hasnt thought I was absolutely crazy to do so.. (that person owns 4 Teslas and is a shareholder, but drives a Rivian as his E-truck)
While my LX600 was a 2024, and I drove it since January, it feels like a antique compared to the Cyberbeast. I was also waiting on the right moment for me to get my first EV and the other market EVs never grabbed me like the Cyberbeast did. As soon as I learned I could order one and get it within a few weeks maximum I went nuts after stalking it for years. It has all the features and power I love about the LX600 but double the HP.
People have commented;
- It might be okay for a fun car but its not going to be reliable as your daily driver. (these people even own other Tesla models)
- Cybertrucks are on their 5th recall! sounds like an expensive gamble! No way you should trade your Lexus!
- You arent going to be able to drive as far or use it for road trips (non EV drivers) (another note, my LX600 got 10-12 MPG the way I drove it and and only 215 miles per tank pf gas.)
- Its junk, it looks cool but its going to fall apart on you. No way ots worth 120K!
Now, I understand that there are some videos and stuff out there, creating uncertainty and doubt about the cyber truck.
But I didn't just go into this blind. I've done my homework and I've read lots of things and I've watched lots of videos from reviewers who have also liked every other car I've ever owned and so I trust their intimate perspective and I've read lots of reviews from owners who have had it since they first started delivering them.
This vehicle is quite a topic though. I've never seen so much commentary where people are trying to convince me to doubt my choice, or think moving brands from Lexus to Tesla is a fail.
Concerning the drive-by wire system, back in 2018 I was an early adopter of the Infiniti Q60 RS400 coupe with the drive-by wire system. I've used one before I know what I'm in for and on that car it failed about two or three times a week - I'd have to pull over and stop and start the car to get it working again. Nissan had no solution, nobody commented on that situation at all because they just see Nissan as a trusted brand.
Based on my research the features of the cyber truck, especially the off-road features compared to the fully loaded F-sport LX600 seem far superior. I've only test driven the regular cybertruck before the off-road features were available, but it definitely looks like it does everything I was doing before but better.. (rented a cybertruck from Turo for a day)
I'm sure the rest of you have had similar experiences and not just people you see in public that want to make fun of the way it looks.
I feel like this has been made to way more controversial than it needs to be because of politics.
