While im waiting Friday delivery I have of course told a few people that I traded my Lexus LX600 for the Cyberbeast and out of 20 or so people in my inner circle only one person hasnt thought I was absolutely crazy to do so.. (that person owns 4 Teslas and is a shareholder, but drives a Rivian as his E-truck)

While my LX600 was a 2024, and I drove it since January, it feels like a antique compared to the Cyberbeast. I was also waiting on the right moment for me to get my first EV and the other market EVs never grabbed me like the Cyberbeast did. As soon as I learned I could order one and get it within a few weeks maximum I went nuts after stalking it for years. It has all the features and power I love about the LX600 but double the HP.

People have commented;

- It might be okay for a fun car but its not going to be reliable as your daily driver. (these people even own other Tesla models)

- Cybertrucks are on their 5th recall! sounds like an expensive gamble! No way you should trade your Lexus!

- You arent going to be able to drive as far or use it for road trips (non EV drivers) (another note, my LX600 got 10-12 MPG the way I drove it and and only 215 miles per tank pf gas.)

- Its junk, it looks cool but its going to fall apart on you. No way ots worth 120K!

Now, I understand that there are some videos and stuff out there, creating uncertainty and doubt about the cyber truck.

But I didn't just go into this blind. I've done my homework and I've read lots of things and I've watched lots of videos from reviewers who have also liked every other car I've ever owned and so I trust their intimate perspective and I've read lots of reviews from owners who have had it since they first started delivering them.

This vehicle is quite a topic though. I've never seen so much commentary where people are trying to convince me to doubt my choice, or think moving brands from Lexus to Tesla is a fail.

Concerning the drive-by wire system, back in 2018 I was an early adopter of the Infiniti Q60 RS400 coupe with the drive-by wire system. I've used one before I know what I'm in for and on that car it failed about two or three times a week - I'd have to pull over and stop and start the car to get it working again. Nissan had no solution, nobody commented on that situation at all because they just see Nissan as a trusted brand.

Based on my research the features of the cyber truck, especially the off-road features compared to the fully loaded F-sport LX600 seem far superior. I've only test driven the regular cybertruck before the off-road features were available, but it definitely looks like it does everything I was doing before but better.. (rented a cybertruck from Turo for a day)

I'm sure the rest of you have had similar experiences and not just people you see in public that want to make fun of the way it looks.

I feel like this has been made to way more controversial than it needs to be because of politics.

Whatever you do . . Don’t trade it in. Keep your CB, because the costs for Teslas are generally going lower. (Long term Tesla owner. I don’t plan on selling either my 17MS or 24CT anytime period, because I know with each year the costs are lower. My opinion of course. I keep and drive them because of the drive, fun, and reliability.)

Well, first year things aren't known for their reliability. But aside from that... Yeah. It's weird what people latch onto.

In my circle it's mostly how weird and unpleasant the CEO has been. To me, it looks like he's stressed out (because the other time prior he acted out was when he was under stress: getting forced out of PayPal, SpaceX having trouble with their first orbital, the Model S ramp then the Model 3 ramp...)

And stress makes people do weird things. And this applies to people looking in from the outside, too. They see worries and are stressed by them - and that's valid. Give them a hug and tell them it'll be okay.

You and your kids are going to love it.

It’s just at another level. It’s genuinely fun, perfect for families, and in my opinion a once in a generation vehicle.

The only downside is basically the FUD stuff I hear. I find out about real and fake recalls from friends and family before I do from Tesla. “I heard the wiper blade flies right off the truck!!!!”

This was the purpose of me making this thread, so people could share the weirdest things they’ve heard.

Ihave not heard the wiper blade thing yet. It reminds me of when I bought the iPhone 4 and everybody heard online that it doesn’t work if you hold it a certain way.

I would keep the Lexus cause I think it’s cool. I just can’t deal with two vehicles at one time. We don’t have the garage space for it, busy dad, etc My wife has her own car and the LX 600 would just sit there and lose value every day, I didn’t do something with it.

I have a strong feeling that if this works well for me, my wife is going to want to get a Tesla model X pretty soon and then we’ll have all electric cars.

Most of my friends have been excited about my Cybertruck purchase, but have also fallen prey to the fuddy media reports ("Five recalls? It's a miracle you're alive!")

I find it challenging to switch between EV and ICE.

If the cybertruck has to go into the shop, we’ll just share my wife’s car for a few days which is at least a hybrid that feels more like an EV when you’re driving it (no shifting etc)

Also wanted to ad that I have two young boys age 6 and 4 and they think this is the best choice I ever made and cant wait.
You're boys will love it. My kids do (2 and 4). You will love it. You'll likely experience some frustrations from bring an early adopter, but that's ok. Once you get it People will be curious about it and accept it's ok for you to have it, they will also be annoyed their kids will be asking them to get a CT.
Overall, you and the family will be happy with it.

P.s. steer by wire is amazing. It's a feature I didn't know I wanted. Now I'm annoyed when driving other vehicles because I need to turn the wheel so much. Lol

When the Model S came out people were so afraid of EVs. I had otherwise reasonably intelligent people asking me if I was worried about being electrocuted when it rained…. So when I asked them why they didn’t worry about the batteries on boats in response they did that confused dog head turn and just looked at me, glitching, because of all the fear big oil put into people to scare them away from buying EVs / to start the transition to EVs that they never stopped to question that what they were hearing was clearly BS that made no sense because it was the only stuff they ever heard about EVs. Fast forward 9 years and I had to use my Model S to drive over a downed live power line (i know, not smart, and a situation where I SHOULD have been worried about being electrocuted… and was) in the middle of an active rockslide to get down a mountain. When I made it, and realized I was fine, I had a good laugh to myself looking back at those moments as I drove on.

I suspect it will be the same with the CT in the future. After 13 years of ownership i’ll be passing the proverbial EV torch from the MS to the CB in a few short months and I’m really looking forward to it.

Cheers

Haha let them eat cake. What you’re describing is status anxiety. I have 3 Rivians and Rivian owners are the worst. There is some kind of EV status anxiety going on with those people. The same goes with like diesel bros and other weird tribes.
