This was the purpose of me making this thread, so people could share the weirdest things they’ve heard.

Ihave not heard the wiper blade thing yet. It reminds me of when I bought the iPhone 4 and everybody heard online that it doesn’t work if you hold it a certain way.
Exactly. The CT is the car world’s iPhone moment.

I was one of those anti iPhone people. Didn’t get the hype, thought it was overpriced Apple branded windows phone, and bought into fake rumors. In hindsight, I was probably protecting my windows phone purchase decision. I put a lot of thought into that decision, and at the time it was a big purchase for me financially.

I would keep the Lexus cause I think it’s cool. I just can’t deal with two vehicles at one time. We don’t have the garage space for it, busy dad, etc My wife has her own car and the LX 600 would just sit there and lose value every day, I didn’t do something with it.

I have a strong feeling that if this works well for me, my wife is going to want to get a Tesla model X pretty soon and then we’ll have all electric cars.
I'm at this spot right now. I've had my Cyberbeast for over a month now and I think I finally decided to sell my 2023 Range Rover. It's just sitting there losing value every day. I love the Range Rover. I mean love it that thing so much, that I've been torn for the past month if I should keep it or sell it. But it's hard to imagine keeping a >$100k vehicle to just sit in the garage and get driven 1 day a week. Yes, I can afford to keep both, but why? I have 4 garage spots, so that's not the problem. I have until Saturday to keep my decision to sell or change my mind...

Sometimes I do want to keep it to drive it when I don't feel like dealing with the attention from the CT, but not sure it's worth it to keep for that reason.

Nice Range Rover! But yeah, if you’re not driving it, you might as well sell it.
That’s what I just did last week with my TRX

Beautiful Range Rover.

This was my LX600 I got out of to get the Cyberbeast. I was in same boat as you. I pay cash for cars so it was like this $120K bag of cash rotting if I didnt do something with it. Like keeping cash you arent spending in savings account instead of working in investments.

Once I saw I could ditch the LX600 and get 90% of the money for the cyberbeast after driving it for 10 months well - I think you know how it looked to me :)

My wife loves her Lexus RX hybrid and its perfect for her, but I sense the Tesla model X wont be far from eating its lunch :)

Now, I understand that there are some videos and stuff out there, creating uncertainty and doubt about the cyber truck.

But I didn't just go into this blind. I've done my homework and I've read lots of things and I've watched lots of videos from reviewers who have also liked every other car I've ever owned and so I trust their intimate perspective and I've read lots of reviews from owners who have had it since they first started delivering them.

This vehicle is quite a topic though. I've never seen so much commentary where people are trying to convince me to doubt my choice, or think moving brands from Lexus to Tesla is a fail.
Some people seem incapable of filtering the fact from the fiction. These are people who are gulible and they have learned through life not to do anything considered risky, even if the actual level of risk is low. Because they can't tell the difference between something that is actually risky, and something that people just say is risky. Because they have trouble telling fact from fiction, they are predisposed to believe anything that sounds plausible. They have doubts that credible sounding people would tell a lie or mislead them.

I feel like this has been made to way more controversial than it needs to be because of politics.
Politics is not the cause of the controversy, it's just one of many tools used to turn people against Elon Musk, Tesla and electrification. The cause of the controversy are people who are trying to protect the value of their businesses that are threatened by electrification. There are literally hundreds of billions of dollars on the line. Simply slowing electrification down by a single year can be worth tens of billions of dollars to various industries.

Elon is not only the most effective driver of the transition to EV's, he is also disrupting multi-billion dollar energy markets, cable and fiber optic networks, aerospace and military contractors (via SpaceX), insurance markets, etc. The total value he is creating is dwarfed by the value he is making uneccessary. That's why he's successful, he has more efficient ways to accomplish the same goals/needs.

Elon is like an accelerator to the kind of change we need to benefit the little guy, to increase standards of living around the world. You have to step way back and look on a long timescale to see this but it's a fundamental change to massive flows of money around the world. It devalues what has been and accelerates what will be. People trying to slow him down by throwing shade on him and his products is what drives the FUD. Politics is just one tool of many used to do this.

Dumb people can't see what is happening. They believe most of the FUD. Those with their eyes wide open watch in disbelief at how dumb and gullible most people are. They can help by remaining reasonable and talking rationally about better ways to accomplish the same things. About how people like Elon are not the enemy, but the future solution to the biggest threats facing humanity, including the loss of truth and the ability to speak freely without fear.

It's not politics, it's just simple common sense (or at least it would be if people were not deceived).

BLUF: BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT...To hell with what others think. If you lived your life on what others thought, you would likely not be in a position to make such a purchase. ENJOY YOUR TRUCK. it is fun with the exception of curiosity seeks and fingerprints.

Had similar XP after I picked up my AWD CT. Too many of my friends get most of their "information" from FOX news, and a few that watch CNN. Both groups now hate both EVs and Elon with a crazy passion. Both groups know nothing about EVs but what they have been spoonfed by MSM and what we used to call the "Big Three" (who can't yet build competitive EVs).

That's the reason that within two weeks of getting my CT I renamed it IDGAF

No, there is something else going on.

Why does Elon support high profile people who:

Do NOT believe in science, scientific method, empirical evidence or first principle physics.
(Wind turbines cause cancer, I am smart because my uncle was scientist, nuclear bomb the hurricane, using solar panels impossible because no sun at night, electric boat vs shark, etc).

Have in past and will again increase fossil fuel industry subsidies. They will never even the playing field.

Do NOT believe in free speech. (Something suddenly Elon cares so much about)

Do NOT believe in democracy

Do NOT believe in U.S. Constitution

Do NOT believe in peaceful change of administrations

Do NOT believe in human caused climate change. (But believe libs control weather. ie hurricanes)

Do NOT believe at all in protecting any environment - It is OK to poison air & water, rolling coal, wasting fuel on Earth/Environment Day just to "own" the libs/woke.

I get this. I have 2 Fords. I was thinking about trading in the F150. The only time I take out my F350 is if I have something big to haul and when going into town as to not get attention from the CT. At this point my errands with the CT are non-existent because of attention and fear of vandalism. It sucks because it’s my favorite vehicle to drive.

I can probably get rid of the F150 and am looking at a Rivian R1T because the lack of maintenance has been great with my CT. Also oil is about to spike due to the Middle East and I will be pleased to not have to worry about that too much. Don’t ask about getting another CT… I love it but I don’t want any twice the hate and twice the attention. The wife would kill me if I did that. She wants a bed, so that leaves a F150 Lightening and Rivian. But Rivian smokes the F150 in range and it seems like a more polished vehicle.

The thing that is suprising to me is. Is that most haters think that everyone who purchased the truck is for attention. Like Everyone who bought it. I don't care what others think in what I spend my money on. I want to be left alone most of the time. It doesn't bring me joy that people look at this.

But they all think we are attention seeking assholes. I don't know why they think that.

I'm sorry to hear that. I feel the same sometime. My main use right now is to get to work and back. Pick up the kids. I don't really take it to anywhere public like Starbucks. Yet...

To be fair, you knowingly purchased a radical truck in a time where people associate the CEO of the company being an extremist.

That's like walking around in public on stilts to help you see better, but wondering why people keep looking at you.

I have one and love it, but I knew going in it was super polarizing for multiple reasons. It was one of the design goals from Elon.

I get it. But it's a "them" issue, not a "me" issue lol. I personally didn't buy it because I want their attention. They perceived that on their own with their little brain. Just my 2 cents.

Because people told them that's why we bought Cybertrucks. Some people can't tell the difference between fact and fiction. Sure, there are probably some Cybertruck owners who bought a Cybertruck for attention, but I think the number is low.
