Because it’s annoying as fuck and they can raise your prices any time. You really think they will keep that $10/month the same price forever? You ever get DIRECTV stream? Remember when it was $35/month for 160 channels? What is it now? $92/month?

What about software? Remember when you could buy Word/Adobe, paid a flat price and you had it for life?

Yes buddy, it’s insane to me to hate getting fee after fee, sub after sub, adding it all up. So I guess I am insane ?
For anyone looking at the Silverado/Sierra/Hummer EVs, read the fine print and/or talk to the sales people - their subscription rates are ~$50+ per month, once the trial period ends. To me, THAT is robbery, especially for what you get.

Ford Lightning used to be $800/annually for bluecruise, which you had to buy after 3 years if you wanted even the basic features.
Upside is the truck may not make it 3 years.

The price of Premium Connectivity could actually track inflation, or become cheaper in inflation adjusted dollars, because you are buying wireless bandwidth which has been declining in price for decades.

When you buy DirectTV you are buying content that has to be produced. Two different things. Same with software. Wireless bandwidth declines in price as new technologies allow more of it to be squeezed into the same amount of radio spectrum.

I don't like subscriptions either, but it's a lot more palatable when they add as much value as Premium Connectivity for so little (and you can get it even cheaper buying once per year).

We should retire this thread because it looks like we are using it to discuss anything and everything, and the thread title is pushing a false narrative anyway. The reservation list cannot be exhausted as soon as Tesla starts offering non-Foundation with a cost of entry that is $20K cheaper!

Sounds like standard Tesla build. I’ve had mine into the SC 5 times for the Tonneau cover not working properly. Both the front doors are misaligned and there are squeaks all over. I still think it’s sick and I’d do it all over again. ?
How early of a delivery did you have? Curious if its possible that many of those issues are resolved by now for hte non-foundation.

I got the invite Friday and quickly ordered before thinking everything through. Considering cancelling now and eating the $250. It just seems odd to be that I can get a truck quickly. The market for an expensive vehicle is obviously low which makes me think they will start offering more incentives next year so could be worth it to wait. Very torn as I didn’t think I would even have to consider this for at least a year

This is FUD there are 1 million Reservations, maybe 2 million. Tesla has a backlog and can’t build enough CT’s.

just get the truck you won’t be disappointed at all. If you wait til next year maybe save a little money on financing, when you finally get the truck drive it a while you are going to say I should of got this earlier this is an awesome truck .

regarding the premium connectivity charges. I have a FS and my card is being charged $10 monthly. How can I cancel it and keep the free connectivity?

You are probably right, I just get fomo of missing a better deal. I bought the model 3 right away and obviously price shifted so much after that.

For all the door misalignment issues just bring it into your sc. they fixed mine very quickly and it’s all aligned. Hated looking in the rear view window and seeing it not lined up.

... Tesla never said they had 3 million. They said one million. ...
Maybe there was no official Tesla announcement, but Tesla execs did claim "over two million" Cybertruck reservations. This was in October 2023, shortly before the launch.
As early deliveries for the Cybertruck are making their way to initial customers, one Tesla executive has highlighted the vehicle’s strong demand by noting that it has received over two million deposits.

The Tesla Cybertruck made an appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage on Monday, featuring discussions and a test drive with the automaker’s Head of Design, Franz von Holzhausen, and Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy. While the talks covered a wide range of topics and interesting details, von Holzhausen also confirmed that Tesla has received over two million deposits for the Cybertruck.

Seems like 25-30k order conversions from the 2-3m reservations. That's a 1% rate.
That's about what I get too.

Let's assume that this is true. So how many of those pre-launch reservations have turned into sales so far?

Troy Teslike has historically been a pretty accurate source of Tesla production numbers, based on VINs and other info. He has estimated production of 30,425 Cybertrucks through 3rd Quarter 2024 (which ended on September 30). Let's assume that production approximately matches sales.

This implies a conversion rate in the 1.0 to 1.5 % range though September 2024. However, the rate should continue to rise, because many pre-launch reservation holders opted to wait for the non-foundation series, which is only now becoming available.
