Bro you can’t compare any of those to the CT. You might as well be comparing an electric Honda why ? Because none of them resemble in anyway the CT sure they both are considered “trucks” but hardly the same you no what all those you mentioned have in common though ? They all look the same. A truck. That’s the edge that’s the difference. I just sold my Chevy diesel 2500 I had for 9 years. Loved it but not on this earth could I park them side by side and consider them in the same world by looks alone
Bruv, they’re completely comparable. Do you think that 50% of the CT buyers or potential buyers were all in line for the looks? I’m here for performance, tech and engineering. They should give me a discount for the looks, lol. The truck is clearly polarizing on the design, I’m messing around, I think it looks okay, but not good enough to pay a premium on that alone (for the majority).

The CT is absolutely getting cross-shopped. When it was first advertised it was about the only game in town. Now you’ve got every other truck manufacturer beating it on value and range. The only edge Tesla has over legacy is if you view the stainless steel sheet metal as a worth a premium, software, and a little bit on charging infrastructure. None of these things will affect 90% of the daily experience compared to the competitors. I say this as a potential buyer. The Dual Motor Tesla is cool, but I doubt the avg buyer pays $10k over the nearest comparable competitor. Or I guess it’s on the cusp, maybe $5k bc you like how it looks more. That’s subjective

As for Porsche, it has heritage, precision, quality, reliability, and won competitively on the international circuits. Right now, Tesla has heritage out of those. The Cyberbeast would be the only one in the lineup with any right to not be compared to the competitors.

Teach your friend how to make sense the way you did. Now I’m talking to an adult. I see your points but at the price range don’t underestimate how many people bought this truck for the looks and hype and the added bonus of the tech. Personally I never was like hmm should I get the Rivian or the cyber truck. They just are not the same to me. I would maybe say hmm should o get the lightning or the Rivian because in my point of view those look the same. I don’t buy a car unless I like the way it looks and yeah truthfully I was unsure if I liked it that much but it’s grown on me now that I wrapped it and made it my own. I bought this because I believe in the company I love my M3 my ex wife took the old M3 ? and this is the 3rd Tesla I believe in Elon and it’s kind of cool to have something new and fun so forgive me if I’m not like thet goof knowing the range on 17 trucks

You and I aren’t so different. I had the same mentality until I actually needed the truck in the more traditional sense. Before my truck life I was into sport compacts and sports cars. Then I had to have a truck and had sports cars that I never got to drive. Then I got rid of the sports car and now down to a truck. So the allure of the CT to me is that it ties my long love of cool and fun cars to my current needs of having a truck that can work and travel long distances. It’s like having cake and getting to eat it. My problem has boiled down to range though, and well I’m right in the middle of child rearing where I’m more picky about how I spend the money.

I bring up a lot of these other points, because I also deal with the traditional less-urban truck owners regularly, and hear their concerns and what they look for. I write about them here because I assume Tesla wants these trucks to be bought by everyone, not just a niche target market. I could be wrong though. If they are, I’m hoping that my feedback is constructive if they are reading it. I want to buy a Tesla, I want Elon to succced, I am not a fan of legacy in general. However, I still need a product that does what I need it to, at a competitive price point.

P.S. - love that your wife drives the M3! I always try to get my wife to have a car that I like so I can drive it when I don’t need a truck. Problem is when I had her driving my 3-series, I found out on a ride along that she was plowing through speed bumps without slowing down SMH! It’s been SUV‘s ever since, lol!
P.S.S. - Just realized you mean Model 3, not BMW M3, still cool though, lol!

I say confirmed because they are now inviting someone like me, who reserved eight months after launch/first customer deliveries, to order and take delivery of a regular (non-foundation) CT within 60 days. Unless I am some special case (not), all the people on the reservation waiting list of "over 1 million" or "almost 2 million" (depending on who was speaking) that were there Nov 2023 have been invited for both foundation and non-foundation series and they are past that group and onto people like me who ordered only a few months ago. The multi-year pre-launch backlog has dissipated before the first year was out.

(Of course, it is always possible that Tesla has made a huge mistake and I am not supposed to be invited to configure a non-foundation series for another year or two, but I would note that no one has responded to this thread saying that they had an earlier US reservation and they are still waiting for an invite so...)
The vast majority of people that did not pull the trigger on the foundation series are waiting for the all-wheel drive with the tax deduction. As it sits right now you don't get the $7,500, so it's not Apples to Apples yes you can order a nonfoundation series if you place an order in the last year, again that doesn't mean that people aren't going to go forward, asking people to pay $80,000 for something they could just wait and get it for 72500 is a big ask

This is exactly why people think the list is exhausted. It’s not it’s just they are skimming the profit off the top. Send out emails to everyone see who jumps in once the orders dry up offer the tax incentive or lower rear wheel trim. They aren’t at end of road yet but I’d say Jan Feb next year there will not be a list or a wait for a cybertruck.

Ok Rivian RT1 Dual Standard, 72-79k, 270 range
CT AWD - 80k, 340 range
Lighting - 68k and up depending on options (Flash) / 77k and up (Lariat) - both 320 range.

Note: When you click through on Fords site, the base price of the flash goes from 68k to 70k. The tow package takes you to 72,390.
The same goes for the Lariat, which goes to 79,090.

Yes, Ford sells a 50k truck, and I suspect Tesla will get there with the RWD CT.

The problem with comparisons is people quote the lowest price and highest specs.
Exactly! The price of legacy auto goes up and up from the advertised price when you get the stuff you need. With Tesla, there is just tires, interior trim color and whether you want FSD or not.

Doing a Ride along with the Wife is taking my life in my hands so I try not to ever do that. Ha.
you nailed it. I’m a car guy and a motorcycle guy. Currently I own a 73 Bronco a M3
And the cyber. I just sold my Chevy 2500 diesel I owned for 9 years. Longest I’ve ever owned a car/truck other than my 57 Chevy. I loved that 2500 I tried to justify keeping it but the wife kept saying “why don’t need 2 trucks you look like a Ahole” ? I told her work truck and nice truck. She didn’t buy it. I love the ct and I do use it to throw my tools in and do small jobs . But truth be told my neighbor pulled up in the new 2500 and that thing was amazing inside and surprisingly had lots of cameras and all that so one day I will be going back to it. But it’s nice to not go to the pump and drop $200 every 4 days.

So, you are saying, by next year, buying a Cybertruck will be just like buying any of the legacy EV trucks (in terms of wait times)?

What I know about wait times for various Tesla models is that it goes up and down (and you never know which way it's going to go. Sure, Tesla tries to adjust pricing to suit demand, but demand changes more quickly than they can adjust the pricing.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see wait times climb into the 3-5 month range within the next year. You cannot predict something as fickle as demand.

Like many, I still have a reservation from 5 years ago, and am waiting for the $61k version. Just because many are waiting (probably in the 100's of thousands of people), does not keep others from ordering and receiving quickly.

Below is the exhaustive list. I really tried to find issues with the truck. I know a lot of folks would not care but i cared for my $120k so wanted to make sure it was flawless and that was the downfall of it. Service center was able to take care of almost all of these issues but in my mind, I had grown a distrust with the truck already. I could not digest the fact that the biggest pieces of glasses on the truck needed full replacement and this was for a brand new truck. Anyway, I hope and wish the build quality has improved from that point.
1. Left Passanger Door Misaligned.
2. Left tailgate Misaligned.
3. Left upper triangle trim piece not flushed at the front joint.
4. Left upper triangle trim piece not aligned with the rear panel.
5. Frunk panel gap mismatch at between left and right.
6. Frunk not flushed with left and right front panel.
7. Right upper triangle trim piece not flushed at the front joint.
8. Front right wheel arch minor damage (less than 3mm).
9. Rear right wheel arch minor damage (less than 10 mm).
10. Scuff mark below CyberBeast logo on tailgate.
11. Front glass interior has weird fogging patterns.
12. White interior still has black spots from handling.
13. Front windshield needed replacement due to multiple arc scratches.
14. Truck bed top mount covers are not flushed.
15. Truck bed top plastic trim on left side has bulging.
16. Left rear door interior trim is loose
17. Top rear glass side plastric trim is loose at multiple location on both sides.
18. Right rear side door has minor misaligment.
19. top roof panel back and front side has bowing and seems seal has come off and needed replacement.
20. Interior squeaking noise from drivers seat.

THANK YOU! I’m about to receive an AWD CT and a Quality, Fit and Finish check off list like this is helpful.

You can wait for 2019 prices on milk, clothing, healthcare, housing or anything else. Good luck with that.
Original quote back then was $40k. $61k was the update early this year. Trucks are not milk, by the way.
